Pennsylvania hardcore band Power of Fear has made an indelible mark with their debut album, “A Breed Apart,” released today on DAZE. Drawing influences from revered bands like Hatebreed and Cold As Life, Power of Fear delivers a relentless onslaught of riff-fueled fury.
With elements of funk and jazz guitar structures, their nine tracks are heavy, high-energy, and unapologetically raw. Vocalist Barker’s growling vocals, filled with enraged attitude, convey a deep disdain reflected in relatable lyrics. This album is a powerful dose of mosh-ready hardcore, offering a satisfying blend of aggression and bounce for the avid listener.
Barker sheds light on the lyrical themes, stating, “Every song carries a negative overtone. Hardcore has always been my outlet for aggression and disdain, and these songs are a testament to that. Each track is about people who have let me down or put me through tough times. Nearly every song resonates with people because they address experiences we all encounter in some capacity throughout life, whether it’s feeling let down, encountering fake individuals, or simply disliking someone.”
“A Breed Apart” was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Shane Mayer at Cerebral Audio, ensuring a powerful sonic experience. The album is available on CD with accompanying shirt and poster, as well as on Bandcamp and various streaming platforms.
Power of Fear consists of Barker on vocals, Harrison on drums, Brendon on bass, and Pat on guitar. Their passion and energy translate seamlessly into their live shows, creating an intense and memorable experience for their audience.
