Hardcore pack TRUTH GRIP break down their furious new EP “Twist Of Fate”

2 mins read

Thirteen years of shared stages and shifting lineups eventually narrow down to something focused. Truth Grip — four friends from Frankfurt am Main playing heavy hardcore with metallic teeth — have been at it under this name since 2023, but the roots go way deeper.

Members previously played in Shattered Lions and Born As Lions, cutting their teeth at festivals like Tells Bells, Traffic Jam, Spring Breakdown, and Youth Culture, and opening for Comeback Kid, Stick To Your Guns, Stray From The Path, Lionheart, and Nasty, among others.

Their debut EP “Reality Curse” dropped late 2023, followed by the single “Sex Education” in August 2024. Now comes “Twist Of Fate,” out February 27th — available digitally through Blood Blast, and physically via Trashout Records and BBMA Records. An EP release show follows the next day in Wiesbaden, with Peace of Mind, Defiance, Makhaira, and Cruel Division on the bill.

Six tracks. Tight, muscled, and confrontational. The band walked us through the whole thing.

“T.O.F.”‘

The intro does exactly what it’s supposed to and nothing more. Truth Grip wrote it with one intention: “The people in the crowd should mosh and have the time of their lives.” Lyrically, they say it’s as simple as it gets. Fair enough — sometimes the pit doesn’t need a thesis statement.

“Your Selfmade Hell”

This one zeroes in on the performance of identity online — the pressure to shine bright on social media and pretend to be something you’re not for a few minutes of validation. The band frames it as a kind of prison: “Your actual authentic personality can’t come to light — being trapped in a hell which is selfmade.” The track features guest vocals from their long-time friend Patrick of Peace of Mind.

“Born Unequal”

A direct shot at structural inequality and the habit of blaming the working class or minorities for not working hard enough.

Truth Grip

Truth Grip has it: “Germany is the 3rd biggest economy in the world but still 16% of the population face severe issues with poverty while prosperity and wealth is mainly passed on as an inheritance. Something has to change about this.”

The track also features Denis from Minus Youth on guest vocals.

“Division”

Built around the old principle of divide and conquer — and how well it still works. The band argues that division by design pulls attention away from what should actually outrage people: the climate crisis, wars and conflicts across the globe, the widening wealth gap.

Truth Grip

“Those are all conditions which have been present since forever,” they say. “Division is a common practice and the system around it is built intentionally. It seems to be a never ending game.”

“Inner Circle”

This one hits closer to home. The core message, as the band puts it: if you’re not welcome at someone’s table, build your own. Whether it’s a group of fake friends or even a family situation, the outlook here is clear — “rather have a few true friends, who could also become close like family is supposed to be, than trying to belong to a group that neither welcomes you nor values your existence.”

The track features Emy from Blossom Decay on vocals.

“Chain Of Command”

The closer. Truth Grip describe it as a raw, uncompromising protest that calls out the machinery of war and the hypocrisy behind power, profit, and false morality. It confronts governments and institutions that speak of peace while dealing in destruction. The song delivers its message without apology, challenges the narrative, and gives voice to millions affected. A music video for this one is already up on YouTube.

Across six tracks, “Twist Of Fate” covers a lot of ground — social media delusion, class divide, political manipulation, personal boundaries, and war — without ever dressing it up as something more poetic than it is. Truth Grip say what they mean and keep it heavy. The EP is out now.
