Leeds nu-hardcore unit BODYWEB have joined Flatspot Records (home to Speed, Scowl, End It) and unveiled their new single “deadwire” — a seething burst of disconnection, vulnerability, and glitch-ridden chaos. The track arrives alongside a manic video directed by Martina Pastori, capturing the band’s fractured energy in the heart of their hometown.

The deadwired EP, due September 5, is BODYWEB’s second and most visceral release to date. Entirely self-produced, it threads guttural breakdowns, melancholic synths, and warped textures into a sound that feels like a nervous system mid-crash.

The band’s lineup pulls from some of the UK’s underground staples — Louis Hardy (Higher Power, Big Cheese, Fate), pq (Nihiloxica), Luke Thompson (Stiff Meds), Tom Hobson (Dai Tan Films), and Naomi Macleod (Empire State Bastard).

Metallic hardcore band INTRO have dropped their debut EP Introduction Demonstration 1, out now through Televised Suicide. The seven-track release includes three covers and arrives after what the band describes as a merch-dominant rise—selling more gear than anyone else at shows, despite not having music out until now.

“By now you should have braced yourself,” the band states, referencing their signature “Posi Blue” merch that’s circulated heavily. The release is also available on CD via Reckless Release (RR007).

After 14 years without new music, THE SOUND OF ANIMALS FIGHTING will release The Maiden on September 12 via Born Losers Records. The masked rock collective has shared “Lady of the Cosmos,” a six-minute track that marks the album’s midpoint—where the central figure, the Maiden, ascends beyond her execution, transforming into memory and myth.

Described as “the hinge between mortality and myth,” the track sets the tone for the second half of the album, where narrative and sound spiral into the cosmic. Pre-orders for The Maiden include multiple vinyl variants, CDs, cassettes, bundles, and even a séance kit.

A full U.S. tour follows, with THIS WILL DESTROY YOU and THE CASKET LOTTERY joining most dates. West Coast shows begin September 25 in Seattle, with the East Coast leg kicking off October 2 in Worcester. The tour wraps October 12 in Houston.

THRICE will drop Horizons/West, their first full‑length since 2021, on 3 October 2025 through Epitaph Records and have released its lead single, “Gnash,” now streaming across platforms.

“This is the first time we leaned into something that felt like a direct continuation, like a sequel to a previous album,” frontman Dustin Kensrue says, noting the record’s focus on “parsing reality” amid algorithms, fear, and social echo chambers. He adds that the band intends to “keep growing, exploring, and making something that feels honest to who we are right now.”

THREE ONE G, the San Diego-based experimental label founded by Justin Pearson, is celebrating 31 years of defiant innovation, blurring lines between noise rock, post-hardcore, punk, and the purely unclassifiable. Bandcamp has posted a special feature on our friendly label HERE.

What began as a reaction to mediocre record deals and corporate indifference has since become a cornerstone of underground music, documenting decades of abrasion and unrest from acts like SWING KIDS, THE LOCUST, and RETOX.

Launched in the early ’90s with a 7-inch by UNBROKEN and a reissue of SWING KIDS, the label grew out of necessity rather than ambition. “I can at least do as shitty of a job as they are,” Pearson recalls thinking about other labels, flipping that frustration into DIY momentum. But over 150 releases later, what’s emerged is more than just a catalog—it’s a network of fiercely independent artists rooted in anti-capitalist ethos and mutual support.

SYMPOS and LOST LEGION have joined forces for a new rowdy punk split EP, released July 22 via Tough Ain’t Enough Records in collaboration with Mr. Face Records. Each band contributes two tracks, continuing in the vein of their previous work.

SYMPOS opens the record with “Welcome to Ballybricken” and “Antisocial,” while LOST LEGION delivers “No Wind Resistance” and “Stuck in One Place.”

Polish anarcho-punk force BARAKA FACE JUNTA return with Do Piekła, an urgent and abrasive live studio album dropping August 15 on CD via D.I.Y. Koło Records, with vinyl to follow this fall. Two tracks—“Do Piekła” and “Wiatr”—are streaming now, offering a taste of the record’s searing energy and signature saxophone-led chaos.

Captured at Studio Dobra 12 in Białystok, the record channels the spirit of CRASS, THE EX, and NO MEANS NO, while nodding to the dissonant skronk of James Chance and John Zorn. It’s all tension, noise, and no polish—driven by bone-dry bass, jagged riffs, and a piercing horn section that pushes the whole thing deeper into the fire.

UK queercore duo DEATH GOALS have dropped a new single titled “Tchotchke,” featuring Jenna Pup of HIRS COLLECTIVE, just featured in this new feature on IDIOTEQ. The track unpacks the queer experience of being fetishized, calling out the “harmless” advances of straight acquaintances and unsolicited online messages. “Queer people don’t exist to be objects of lust; we deserve love just as much as anybody else,” the band states.

Alongside the single, DEATH GOALS announced their new EP Survival Is An Act Of Defiance, out August 29. Written across 2024 as a response to rising anti-queer sentiment, the record brings in guest vocals from members of HIRS COLLECTIVE, BURNER, CAINHURST, and VICTIM UNIT.

Out July 25 on Tor Johnson Records, BRÖZERKER’s first LP Stay Rad was written by van‑life friends Rabies and Dtox under one rule: “No hassles.” We premiered the full album HERE.

The record fires off “short blasts of crossover aggression” that splice skate punk with metallic hardcore, built by members of Stretch Arm Strong, Wretched, Guyana Punch Line, and Thank God. “Songs flowed like a freshly tapped keg or a well designed skate park,” the band notes, but its rough edge hides “bitterness beneath the surface—a resistance to polish, structure, and the demand to mean something.”

Osaka hardcore pack BRAVE OUT are back with “Locked Away,” a 1:47 blast of defiance and urgency, now streaming everywhere.

“After our US tour last year, we were offered about a big release and recorded new songs for it.”, teases the band.

THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE & I AM NO LONGER AFRAID TO DIE have released “Dissolving,” another new track from their upcoming album Dreams of Being Dust, due out August 22, 2025 via Epitaph Records.

Produced, engineered, and mixed by Greg Thomas and Chris Teti, with mastering by Will Putney, the song drifts through themes of decay and transformation. “From single cell to full, decline is still development, my friend,” the lyrics reflect, circling a repeated refrain: “Can’t break this feeling that I’m dissolving.”

The track credits vocals from David Bello and Katie Dvorak, with contributions from Anthony Gesa, Chris Teti, Steven Buttery, and Joshua Cyr. Pre-orders for the album are available now.

Industrial hardcore duo STREET SECTS break a seven‑year silence on August 15, rolling out two Ben Chisholm‑produced LPs via Compulsion Records—Dry Drunk, their own follow‑up, and Full Color Eclipse, the debut from new offshoot Street Sex. The former channels what the band calls “ballistic rage,” while the latter indulges the “vibrant hedonism” Dry Drunk envies.

“Ben brought a fresh perspective that revived the process and saved the band in many ways,” guitarist‑producer Shaun Ringsmuth notes of the dual‑album sessions, which began after vocalist Leo Ashline’s 2020 relapse temporarily split the pair. Ashline adds, “I’m hoping Dry Drunk will be the final chapter in this addiction‑focused narrative that has been at the heart of so much of our work.”

Lead cuts “Spitting Images” and “Turn Blue” already picked up nods from Revolver and Stereogum, and STREET SECTS will road‑test both records on a run with Youth Code and King Yosef, reaching New York’s Sellersville Theatre on August 27.

DROPKICK MURPHYS have publicly stated they will no longer play Punk In The Park after learning that Cameron Collins, owner of the festival’s promoter Brew Ha Ha Productions, donated to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.

The band fulfilled their slot at the Denver edition of the fest last weekend but posted afterward: “Punk Rock and Donald Trump just don’t belong together.” Local bands DESTINY BOND and TIME X HEIST dropped out ahead of the event in protest, and a petition to halt the fest’s run across multiple cities has now gained close to 1,000 signatures.

Collins’ $225 donation, first shared via FEC filings by Punkerton Records’ Brandon Alan Lewis, triggered backlash across the scene. Speaking recently to Stereogum, Ken Casey of DROPKICK MURPHYS reiterated the band’s long-standing working-class politics, adding: “We haven’t changed in 30 years… and now all of a sudden… fans are calling the band commies.”

Toronto post‑metal outfit LOWHEAVEN have dropped a video for new single “Amherst,” lifted from their first full‑length Ritual Decay, landing 29 August on MNRK Heavy.

“Letting go of this song was like letting go of a part of me that I wasn’t ready for,” says vocalist‑guitarist Dan Thomson of a track he calls both “rock bottom and redemption.” Co‑vocalist Mikey Buchta adds that its studio evolution “was not something that was planned or forced but what felt natural,” while guitarist‑keyboardist Alex Pley notes its layered build “hits like an emotional hammer.”

Produced by Brett Romnes and mastered by Magnus Lindberg, Ritual Decay packs ten songs shaped by ‘90s influences such as Cave In and Deftones. Ahead of release, LOWHEAVEN wrap a short U.S. run with Tan And Handsome, including tonight’s stop at Sellersville Theatre, Pennsylvania.

SUMMERBRUISE have dropped a new single and video for “Van,” featuring guest vocals from CARPOOL. The track arrives ahead of their upcoming album Infinity Guise, due out August 19 via SideOneDummy Records.

Van” documents social burnout and isolation with dry honesty: “You’ve been outside with the door guy all night smoking weed / not even sharing your weed,” the band sings, before spiraling into scenes of missed weddings and half-attended shows. It’s a pop punk summer tune rooted in small moments and long lists of reasons to hang on.

The single was directed by Evan Prunty and features contributions from Cora Kunda, John Parkison, Mike Newman, Mitch Gulish, Stanli Fryman, and Stoph Colsanto. The video is streaming now.

NY/NJ  metal crushers TOMBS have unveiled “Feral Darkness,” the searing title track from their upcoming sixth full-length, set for release in October 2025 via Redefining Darkness Records. Raw, suffocating, and ritualistic, the song captures the band at their most intense yet.

Recorded and mixed by members Mike Hill, Justin Spaeth, and Andrew Murphy across 2024, and mastered by Andy Rosczyk at Goblin Sound Studio in Cologne, Feral Darkness channels the feral urgency of Mayhem and the dark groove of Samhain, with hints of Goatwhore’s swamp-soaked venom.

PEELINGFLESH have announced their new EP “PF Radio 2,” due out September 26th via Unique Leader Records. The first track released from the project is “Midnight,” which arrives alongside a music video directed by SquareUp Studios.

“This release signifies another step for us as a band,” said vocalist Damonteal Harris. “We’re always evolving our sound and this release shows another level of PEELINGFLESH when it comes to everything. Riffs, drums, samples, and vocals are all turned to the max.”

The band will support the release with a North American tour alongside The Black Dahlia Murder and Shadow Of Intent, as well as a handful of headlining dates including stops in Syracuse, Albuquerque, and Des Moines.

UK metalcore veterans FATES MESSENGER have dropped their ferocious new single and video Doomloop, taken from their forthcoming EP Eternal War, out August 22 via Greyline Records. Built on pummeling grooves and seething rage, the track takes aim at governments and corporations profiting from sustained conflict and global suffering.

Emerging from the lineage of ABOVE ALL, ROMEO MUST DIE, and STAMPIN GROUND, FATES MESSENGER have quickly established themselves as a dominant force since forming in late 2023. Eternal War is their most vicious offering yet—a concept-driven assault exploring religious manipulation, cyclical violence, and the commodification of war. Mixed by Stu McKay (DESOLATED, MALEVOLENCE) and mastered by Scott Atkinson (CRADLE OF FILTH, SYLOSIS), the six-track EP also features guest spots from Tim Williams (VISION OF DISORDER) and Al Llewellyn.

Following the intense reception of They Walk Among Us, FATES MESSENGER are gearing up for a series of UK shows, including a July 25 stop at Northants Rocks and an October 25 appearance at New Cross Inn, London.

Northern Virginia rock / punk quartet FOND will release their debut EP Complacent on August 1st. The band has already shared two singles—“Dig” on June 13 and “Hooking Up” on July 11—offering a preview of their melodic alt-punk sound shaped by influences like Teenage Fanclub, Sugar, Tigers Jaw, and Title Fight.

The release will be marked by a show at Galactic Panther Art Gallery near Washington, D.C., featuring FOND alongside Little Low, Be Safe, and Wandering Years. Doors open at 7:00 PM.

Indie rockers CLOUD NOTHINGS have re-released The Black Hole Understands and Life Is Only One Event, two albums originally self-issued via Bandcamp during the early months of the pandemic. Now available for the first time on streaming and vinyl through Pure Noise Records, the records mark a return to overlooked material from 2020.

“They felt like the product of a pandemic-influenced way of working and thinking,” says Dylan Baldi, initially hesitant about the reissue. “But listening back to them… they had a more hopeful sound than I remember.” The albums now join the band’s official catalog with multiple vinyl variants available.

The band will tour in September supporting Superheaven alongside End It and Soul Blind, with stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Cleveland, and more.

SHALLOWATER will release their sophomore album God’s Gonna Give You A Million Dollars on September 5th. The band self-released the record, following their 2023 debut There Is A Well. The first single, “Highway,” is streaming now and premiered via Brooklyn Vegan.

Described by Brooklyn Vegan as a “nearly-six-minute trek through climactic slowcore, twangy slide guitar, and an explosive wall-of-sound grunge coda,” “Highway” blends elements of slowcore and alt-country with heavier textures. Stereogum adds that the track “deploys a healthy amount of pedal steel over a slowcore chug.”

The album was produced by Alex Farrar and features six tracks, including a guest appearance by Hayden Pedigo on “All My Love.” SHALLOWATER’s blend of country-leaning songwriting and distorted guitar work continues to evolve their self-described “dirtgaze” aesthetic.

Vancouver’s DIE JOB return July 22 with “The One Where Cyrus Has Friends,” a poetic yet rowdy tribute to friendship, grief, and memory. “The wordplay in this cathartic anthem isn’t just a clever trick, it’s a tool to process grief and contemplate mortality,” says Cyrus Lord. The track taps into the melodic chaos of classic skate punk, echoing NOFX and winking at Rancid’s swagger.

It follows early July’s dual release, “Thin Blue Whine” and “Creature of Habit.” The former lands as a fast, theatrical takedown of cop worship culture, while the latter turns inward with tense pacing and lyrical bite. Both cuts show a band unafraid to mix bratty charm with heavier undercurrents.

All three tracks lead into DIE JOB’s upcoming album Hazards of Occupation, out August 8 via Kinda Cool Records.

TRIÁNGULO DE AMOR BIZARRO have dropped a new collaborative single with REPION titled “Asmr para Ti,” released July 23 via SideOneDummy Records. The track is the latest preview of TRIÁNGULO’s upcoming album Infinity Guise, due out August 19.

The song pairs TRIÁNGULO’s dense, noise-washed style with REPION’s raw emotional pull. Perfect for your Spanish holidays. Delivered through whispered vocals and swirling guitars, “Asmr para Ti” sits in the overlap of shoegaze and grunge-pop. Marina and Teresa from REPION bring a dynamic vocal presence that grounds the track’s dreamlike textures.

Both bands are cult favorites in Spain’s underground scene—REPION known for their Sleater Kinney-inspired energy, and TRIÁNGULO praised for their fearless, boundary-pushing records. “Asmr para Ti” captures the tension and delicacy that has come to define both acts at their sharpest. Great single.

Richmond’s post-hardcore/noise rock outfit SUB/SHOP have dropped their debut EP democatessen, a raw and unfiltered 7-track release now available digitally and streaming via Bandcamp. Clocking in at 28 minutes, the self-released EP tackles themes of addiction, burnout, grief, and the erosion of identity under modern life pressures, all set against a backdrop of dissonant guitars and emotionally charged vocals.

Recorded at The Ward by Thomas “Rusty” Scott and mixed/mastered by Lance Kohler (Minimum Wage Studios), democatessen leans into the sonic grit of bands like RITES OF SPRING, SHELLAC, BIG BLACK, and HÜSKER DÜ, while channeling a personal narrative that refuses to sanitize discomfort.

We are now hosting a full track-by-track commentary, offering deep insight into the stories and emotional labor behind each song, from the introspective gut-punch of “1987” to the social critique of “Navel Gazer” and the crushing career disillusionment in “Marble Madness.”

Brazilian hardcore/thrash outfit NADA have dropped a video for “Black Bodies Bleeds,” a track pulled from their album Entropia, out now on Wormholedeath. Shot in the band’s rehearsal space, the video captures their raw, unfiltered intensity as they confront themes of racism, state violence, and societal collapse in contemporary Brazil.

The bilingual lyrics tear into denialism and the marginalization of Black and poor communities, with the band calling the track “a sonic warcry against a reality shaped by institutionalized violence, rising fascism, and denialism.” It’s a direct, unapologetic protest in musical form.

Entropia is now streaming, offering a full-throttle blend of thrash precision and hardcore resistance, grounded in NADA’s view of music as both expression and survival.

Metalcore act HEAVENSGATE have dropped their latest single “Rain via Pure Noise Records, marking their first release since signing to the label. The new track follows “Oblivion” and continues to push their blend of melodic metalcore with emotionally driven intensity.

Alongside the release, the Australian band confirmed they’ll be joining WE CAME AS ROMANS on their upcoming European tour—HEAVENSGATE’s first shows on the continent since forming in 2020. The band originally began during lockdown, spearheaded by Aki Vickneswaran and Josh Ang, and gained early attention with the 2022 debut single “Chemical Heaven.”

The tour and single represent a step forward in HEAVENSGATE’s evolving trajectory. Full tour dates are available now.

Guitarists Sabian Lynch and Scottie Simpson of ALPHA WOLF dropped by the Garza Podcast for a wide-ranging, riff-packed chat that hit everything from their custom “Noise” pedal to love for SILVERCHAIR and Ice-T. In episode 190, the Aussie metalcore duo talk songwriting (“easy riffs” that still hit), the origin of “Akudama,” their MONA Museum obsession, and how trusting weird ideas helped shape their brutal live sound.

Scottie reflects on a decade with the band and dishes on alternate tunings, 6 vs. 7 strings, and his early band days. Sabian digs into moving off Tasmania and touring sober in 2025. They even demo riffs live—from “Bleed For You” to “Hotel Underground.” Bonus: a detour into KORN, Soundwave Fest memories, and a couple of straight-up improv breakdowns.

Full episode’s up on YouTube now.

In case you missed it, RESTRAINING ORDER will release their third full-length album Future Fortune on September 12th, marking their debut for Blue Grape Music. The announcement arrives alongside a new video for the track “Know Not.”

“’Know Not‘ takes on the simple yet hard to grasp mission in life—that we must keep moving forward,” says vocalist Pat Cozens. “We must keep striving to get ahead of life, especially in a world that’s always multiple steps ahead of you.”

The band, active since 2017, built their reputation on gritty, hook-laced hardcore, earning recognition for 2019’s This World Is Too Much and 2023’s Locked In Time. Future Fortune follows extensive touring across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Additional US dates around the album release are expected to be announced soon.

Emo indie pop punk rockers LITTLE LOW have released a new video for “Sunshine Guilt,” the title track from their debut LP, out now via Sell The Heart Records, Thousand Island Records, and Waterslide Records. The Boston-based band leans into humor for the clip, which features a friend in a sun costume chasing them around in a nod to Mario Brothers and “Sour Patch Kid” energy.

“I lived in the Bay Area for two years and… found myself wishing it was a crappy gray day so I could hide in my apartment without feeling guilty about it,” says vocalist Christine Atturio, explaining the origin of the song’s title. “Sunshine guilt” refers to the anxiety of staying inside when the weather’s beautiful—something that eventually made her realize she’s a New Englander at heart.

The video, shot by Justin Albaniel, mixes lo-fi comedy with stylized direction, including skateboard scenes and offbeat Wes Anderson touches. Sunshine Guilt was recorded by Trevor Reilly of A Wilhelm Scream and dropped May 9.

Belgian shoegazers SLOW CRUSH have dropped “Bloodmoon,” a hazy, slow-burning track pulled from their upcoming album Thirst, out August 29 via Pure Noise Records. “‘Bloodmoon’ is about the struggles and pain of a passionate and purposeful life but a life worth living,” the band says. “In the absence of light only the darkness remains… we can completely lose ourselves and forget about the crunch of time.”

Thirst promises more weight and grit, recorded with Lewis Johns (The Ranch, UK) after years off the road. Written and tracked with no set agenda, the ten songs reflect “the fragility of human connection, and the complexity of love and self-identity,” according to vocalist/bassist Isa Holliday, who says some tracks left her in tears during recording.

SLOW CRUSH will hit the road this fall for a headlining European tour, starting October 31 in Brussels and wrapping November 30 in Cologne. The U.S. leg begins in early September.

Philadelphia’s cult slowcore project NYXY NYX will release Cult Classics Vol. 1 on September 12, 2025 via Julia’s War Recordings. The full-band debut, recorded by Dan Angel, features contributions from members of Sun Organ, Luna Honey, Midwife, and A Sunny Day in Glasgow.

Lead single “In Haze” is out now—a slow-moving track that folds shimmering guitars and melancholy vocals into the band’s heaviest, most defined sound yet. Though each song has appeared live in shifting forms, this marks their first formal studio documentation.

Originally a performance art project, NYXY NYX has built a reputation for elusive releases, shifting masters, and lo-fi recordings passed hand to hand. Cult Classics Vol. 1 ends that pattern with its first contract-bound release, offering what the band calls a “(re)introduction for heads and new initiates alike.”

DEFTONES will return to Petco Park in San Diego on November 1, 2025 for the latest edition of their curated festival, Dia De Los Deftones. This year’s lineup includes CLIPSE, 2HOLLIS, RICO NASTY, DEAFHEAVEN, REGULO CARO, ECCA VANDAL, GLARE, and UNIVERSITY.

The band recently shared “My Mind Is A Mountain,” the lead single from their upcoming album Private Music, out August 22 via Reprise/Warner. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz, it marks their third collaboration with him following Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan.

Tickets for Dia De Los Deftones go on pre-sale July 23, with general on-sale beginning July 25. The festival follows a sold-out arena tour and precedes the second leg of DEFTONES’ North American run, featuring PHANTOGRAM and IDLES on select dates, and openers THE BARBARIANS OF CALIFORNIA.

MONEEN will return to the road this fall for their first Southern Ontario tour in years. The five-date run, dubbed Getting Back in the Van: Southern Ontario Rip 2025, kicks off October 23 in Hamilton and wraps October 29 at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace.

Stops include London, St. Catharines, and Waterloo. “Very HAPPY to announce,” the band shared online, marking the tour as a homecoming of sorts for the long-running Ontario emo outfit.

Ozzy Osbourne, the “Prince of Darkness” frontman of Black Sabbath, has died at age 76, according to a family statement shared with CBS News: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning… He was with his family and surrounded by love”.

His passing comes just weeks after his final performance with Black Sabbath on July 5, closing a career that helped define heavy metal.

Osbourne’s legacy spans four decades—from the creation of Black Sabbath in late‑1960s Birmingham, which many hail as the bedrock of heavy metal, to his groundbreaking solo work like Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman, and later the cultural sensation of The Osbournes on MTV.

Diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2020 and hampered by ongoing health issues including spinal injuries, Ozzy continued performing until the end, delivering his final farewell just weeks ago.

A true chameleon who lived hard, rocked harder, and retired (and returned) more than once, Ozzy leaves behind a monumental musical footprint—and a timeless place in rock mythology. From biting the head off a bat onstage to becoming an Emmy‑winning reality TV figure, he stood as a rare example of rebellion evolving into relatable humanity. Rest in peace, metal’s original madman—your music resonates far beyond the stage.
