Convent, a hardcore band out of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, just dropped their second single, Where Her Heart Was.
If you’ve been keeping an ear to the ground since October, you might remember their debut, Dirt Doesn’t Need Luck, a track that introduced their heavy, no-frills sound. That one hit hard—chainsaw guitars, cold industrial grooves, and the kind of breakdowns that make you feel the floor shake.
This time, they’ve taken a different route. Where Her Heart Was features Billy from Westmain, a pop-punk band out of the same Philly suburbs. It’s an unexpected pairing, but Convent doesn’t seem to care about sticking to any one formula.
The track still packs the weight you’d expect from them, but Billy’s contribution brings something fresh, a contrast that somehow fits into their chaotic mix.
The band itself is made up of names you’d probably recognize if you’ve spent time in the local scene—members of Amora, Floorbird, and Midfield, along with the mysterious masked guy from the Blackacre Doe YouTube channel.
Their sound pulls from all over the place: hardcore, metalcore, industrial, even some groove-heavy influences like King 810 and Trapped Under Ice (who just dropped this sick live video from Baltimore).
Where Her Heart Was feels like the next step, not just a follow-up. If you missed Dirt Doesn’t Need Luck, this is a good chance to catch up—before they release whatever comes next.
Convent feels like a grimy handshake between modern hardcore and industrial steel, but there’s something more alive in it, something pulsing under the surface.
Keep an eye on them. Whatever comes next, it’s not going to be quiet.
