LATITUDES announce new album

April 18, 2012
1 min read

LATITUDES have announced that they will be releasing their second album “Individuation” on July 2nd.

LATITUDES – “Individuation” Album Preview:

An official press release reads as follows:

Following the success of their critically acclaimed debut album “Agonist” in 2009, and after a run of successful tours and crushing live shows, LATITUDES wasted no time starting work on their second full-lengther, “Individuation”. And with a growing worldwide following, the quintet from Hertfordshire, is now prepared to unleash their most monumental work to date.

LATITUDES are in bloom. And like a savage storm their sophomore album “Individuation” twists and snarls out of the depths with 58 minutes of crushing doom-drenched guitars.

Joined once again by the haunting vocals of Adam Symonds (Eden Maine, The Rifle Volunteer), “Individuation” is LATITUDES in their stride. Symonds’ delicate vocals wonder seamlessly through brutal riffs like ghosts through a crumbling city under siege. “Individuation” will smash you and take you on a twisted journey. Everything on this record is better than their last, creatively and technically – Davies’ drumming is richer and more complex – the riffs are more twisted and infuse elements of black/death metal, atmospheric doom, hardcore, thrash and 70’s era prog/psychedelic rock. The album features, amongst its deep passages, an incredible guest performance on the track ‘Metabolic Pathways’ by modern composition organist Robert Crowley,on the Hammond, bringing to mind masters such as King Crimson, and offering an exciting glimpse into the band’s broad scope and vision.

Produced once again by Chris Fielding (Napalm Death, Electric Wizard, Primordial) at Foel Studios in Wales, and mastered by Jamie Gomez Arellano (Ulver, Cathedral, Ghost) “Individuation” will crush you like a steel wrecking ball in a velvet glove. Jungian psychology refers to “Individuation” as the process of self-unificationthrough the resolution of successive layers of psychological conflict. And it is a fitting title for an album that showcases a long hard road for a band that have not only survived, but grown stronger and better with every release. “Individuation” is the band’s strongest statement yet and re-affirms why LATITUDES have captured the interest of fans from across genres, worldwide.

“Individuation” is set for a July 2 release through Shelsmusic and features 8 tracks clocking-in at 58 minutes. Customers should be on the lookout for a limited edition vinyl version of the release available exclusively atshows or at www.shelsmusic.com. LATITUDES will play the London Underworld with *shels and Astrohenge onJuly 1 and will announce further UK tour dates later in the year.
