Szczecin, Poland based LOCHY I SMOKI have recently released a captivating new song titled “Powiedz, że wystarczam”, a smart amalgam of various styles, including indie punk, emo, melodic hardcore, and nostalgia-infused rock. In an exclusive interview, the band shared details about the making of the song, their upcoming EP, and tour dates.
Lyricaly, the song is inspired by Beach Slang and complexities of everyday life. Composition-wise, Jeremy Bolm from Touche Amore was the inspiration.
“Powiedz, że wystarczam” comes as a strong, genre-defying track that blends elements of grit, emotion, and intensity into a truly addictive listening experience. The gritty and raw sound is balanced with emotional lyrics and powerful vocals that tug at the listener’s heartstrings. The fast-paced and spacey instrumentation, coupled with the shoegazey feel, creates an immersive sonic landscape that draws the listener into the music.
“”What we create is a result of combining our imaginations of music and how we feel it, as well as the influence of what each of us listens to every day. Describing these relationships could turn out to be quite complicated. Two music inspirations that appeared during the writing of this single were The Fall of Troy and King Crimson, but we won’t reveal how and where they left their mark, maybe someone listening will find the connections themselves.” – says the band.
The single “Powiedz, że wystarczam” is part of an EP of the same name. The EP consists of three other new tracks.
The band also shared their tour dates, which include performances at the Next Fest in Poznan, a tour with Zwidami in Lodz, Warsaw, Wroclaw, and Poznan in May, and a performance at the Wild Bred Fest 100% EMO in Wroclaw in September. They also hinted at a surprise performance.
The band has a new member, Adi, who previously played with them in The Throne.
Speaking about their local scene, Szczecin’s local music scene is thriving thanks to the efforts of Syf Records, a DIY label that was founded during the pandemic. Radek and his concert series, Tego Słucham, also contribute to the scene’s good health. However, the band acknowledges that compared to larger cities in the country, Szczecin’s alternative scene is not as well-known, and they do not consider themselves to be part of the city’s alternative music culture.
The band also shared some other groups that they would recommend, including ODC, Garota, Zdrajca, Dybuk, Czernina, Meatballs, Second Sun, and Antivist.
As for their top releases of the year so far, the band recommends Ultrakunst’s Brutalismus 3000, Geography and Geometry’s Overview Effect, Schizma’s new LP, as well as new releases from Daysdaysdays, Samiam, GEL, and they also mentioned that they are catching up on last year’s releases from Stay Inside and Chat Pile.
