In mid-September, SATELLES, the melodic hardcore/metalcore band from Budapest, released a new single titled In Remembrance to promote their upcoming EP Arcadia. This release stands as their most personal and polished work to date, immersing listeners in a world filled with emotion, personal loss, and reflections on contemporary social issues.
The band’s vocalist shared a deeply personal comment on the creation of this track: “As it’s quite challenging to put into words how I cope with losing a close friend, I’ve been putting off writing this song since our album ‘Some Got Saved’. Since then, unfortunately, I’ve lost even more people around me, therefore this song is also a therapy for me to process the losses. It’s also a tribute to them and an imprint of those memories that will live with me forever.”
Arcadia is a four-track EP, set for release in January 2025, though the title track is already available on streaming platforms. It marks the band’s first vinyl release, made possible through a fan-supported crowdfunding campaign. SATELLES returns to their roots with this EP, blending melodic hardcore with early 2000s metalcore influences.
The EP was produced by Andreas Magnusson (who has worked with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and DESPISED ICON) and mastered by Alan Douches (known for his work with CONVERGE and THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN).
The EP’s title, Arcadia, draws on the classical Arcadian trope, symbolizing the clash between utopian ideals and harsh reality. In this release, SATELLES addresses themes of social dynamics and authoritarian narratives, especially relevant in contemporary Eastern Europe.
Arcadia also serves as a reflection on the band’s past. The EP embraces metalcore influences from the 2000s, reminiscent of SHAI HULUD, MISERY SIGNALS, and POISON THE WELL, while maintaining the signature melodic hardcore sound that SATELLES has perfected over the years.
To promote the new release, SATELLES is embarking on a European tour.
