Miami crossover metal/hardcore pack NO COFFIN drops new video for crushing new single

2 mins read

Just a couple of weeks since the release of their new video “Godkiller” (watch below), Miami hardcore/metal/thrash hybrid NO COFFIN are back with a follow up visualizer for another song from their debut EP “Ugly, Broke, Decayed...” (KOTP Recordings) called “No Coffin”. The bleak sounding, doom infused trio is a bare-bones metal band, well suited to represent their deep roots in South Florida Hardcore. Their debut record delivers a heavy hitting, fast, brutal sound, paired with vivid gruesome visuals and horrific storylines represented in their videos. We’re pleased to give you their newest video, along with a special commentary below.

A true crossover band, No Coffin seamlessly blend hardcore and metal elements the likes of Slayer, The Banner, while delivering a lyrical onslaught on par with Mobb Deep. The band is an endless set of punches to the face in the form of brutally thick vocals, slamming hard drums, shredding guitar riffs, and trunk shaking bass. Terrifying, captivating, and energetic, No Coffin, will bury you beneath a wall of sound, anger, fear, and grit.

No Coffin band

Featuring mainstays and newcomers of the SFLHC scene, No Coffin brings a refreshingly nostalgic aesthetic. The band is reminiscent of an era of cassette tapes, recording songs off the radio, bussing it to record stores, and sick riffs that stayed on repeat. A time when metal was relegated to the shadows, when there was a thrill to buy and hold physical media, No Coffin brings back that analog feeling of falling in love with a album, and wearing it like a battery.

Asked about some background on both songs and videos, NO COFFIN commented: “With Godkiller, sometimes metal is a bit too metaphorical, especially when it rages against god. The idea behind Godkiller is, straight up, what if you fought god and ripped out his eyes. What if the beginning of Meat Sandwich by GWAR was serious. As the song speeds up, it lists acts of tragedy that have occurred under our current spiritual administration before it all breaks down into grief and confusion.”

No Coffin is the anthem, sometimes we want songs to be metaphorical. β€œNo Coffin” isn’t one of those songs.”

“Both videos were shot by IkeyTV, who mainly shoots rap videos, and recently shot a Grammy retrospective video with DJ Khaled. Ikey was able to take our vision from paper to the screen. The videos are meant to be sequential, and begins with a VHS of Godkiller being loaded into the VCR, as the tape struggles and glitches, it introduces the band as a crew of villains hunting angels and cops. There’s a car chase too. If all continues going to plan, our next videos will be a continuation of this concept”
