1 min read

Quebec-based band WORKS (ex-Girl Arm) are releasing their self-titled 12″LP on November 1st, 2022 via Tomb Tree Tapes (Zegema Beach Records off-shoot label), and today we’re stoked to give you their new angular, tricky indie single “Mad Not Sad”.

The background of this project goes back to their previous band Hey Predator!, who broke up in 2010 and 4/5s of them became Girl Arm. Hey Predator!’s  discography was released on cassette via Tomb Tree and then Girl Arm’s ‘Outside Language’ on tape and 12″ lathe. The band released another EP and full length album, anddecided to change their name when they recorded the nw stuff.

‘Is there a head in there?’ 12″LP that releases November 1st, 2022 on 100 12″s via Tomb Tree.

“”Mad Not Sad” was supposed to be a working title but for some reason it stuck.” – comments the band.

“The first time I heard the line “You can’t go home again” was the name of a Chet Baker album, but later found out it was the title of a Thomas Wolfe book that itself came from a conversation between him and journalist Ella Winter (although she phrased it as “Don’t you know you can’t go home again?” which is arguably even sadder).”
