Southern California metalcore veterans Bleeding Through return with “Nine,” their ninth full-length album, released today via SharpTone Records. Six years after “Love Will Kill All,” the band resurfaces with one of the most aggressive and unfiltered records in their catalog.
The lead-up to “Nine” saw the release of two singles, “Our Brand Is Chaos” and “Dead But So Alive,” each a brutal statement of intent. Today, the band unveils the next single, “Path of Our Disease,” accompanied by a music video.
Frontman Brandan Schieppati describes the record as the culmination of their 25-year career, stating, โThereโs so much passion and aggression on this album. If youโre a fan of us, you wonโt be let down. This is everything weโve been working towards. This is the culmination of 25 years. This is Bleeding Through in its purest form.โ
Regarding the latest single, Schieppati adds, โโPath of Our Diseaseโ is a song about the disgusting social climate of the world. We are becoming a species that is never satisfied. We think the grass is always greener and are forgetting what loyalty is. We are being led by liars and fakes down a path of disappointment. Itโs time to break free.โ
Bleeding Through has long operated on the fringes of heavy music, fusing hardcoreโs intensity, thrashโs speed, and black metalโs atmosphere into their own hybrid. Over the past two decades, theyโve remained outside of passing trends, instead refining a signature sound that balances ferocity with orchestral precision.
Schieppati emphasizes that “Nine” was crafted with intent, explaining, โWe knew we wanted to make a really dark record. For as raw as the feeling is, we were also very deliberate in terms of the orchestration. Itโs definitely a balance. We put everything into ‘Nine.’ I remember saying, โThis needs to be the most true representation of what Bleeding Through is.โ I think we achieved that.โ
The bandโs history speaks for itself
Emerging from Orange County in the early 2000s, they delivered early albums “Dust to Ashes” (2001) and “Portrait of the Goddess” (2002) before breaking through with “This Is Love, This Is Murderous” (2003), a record that Revolver later labeled a โquintessential piece of 2000s metal.โ
They built on that success with “The Truth” (2006), which hit #1 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums Chart, and continued to push forward with “Declaration” (2008), “Bleeding Through” (2010), “The Great Fire” (2012), and “Love Will Kill All” (2018). The latter was hailed by Metal Hammer as โan impressive comeback thatโs tight, hungry and wired with the kind of energy younger bands can only sniff at.โ
Their career has seen them tour with acts spanning the spectrum of heavy music, from Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, and Disturbed to Darkest Hour, Hatebreed, and Parkway Drive. Theyโve appeared on OZZfest and Warped Tour, and despite industry shifts, theyโve remained a constant force.
“Nine” is out now via SharpTone Records.
