Here it is! The debut album from Porto Geese. The expectations after their 2020 EP ”Close” have been high, and the band delivers to the standards we could hope for and then some.
The three singles that have been released prior to the album showed us different sides of what you could expect, and the album gives us an even wider expression – spanning from shoegaze, massive and slow noiserock, catchy post-punk to impressively entertaining psych. The album is both pure fun and loaded with a more serious feel without losing touch of the album as one complete work. Because the tracks – in all their variety – are integrated with each other. Ten tracks that could all have been stand alone singles, but is here masterly combined – as an album should be.
Daring to start off softly and vaguely mystic with ’Aigiri Geese’, leading the way to their live hit ’Every Day Every Day’ and the super catchy synth riff driven single ’Screens’. Going back to mellow shoegaze on ’What a Day’ before going bonkers in a spaced out psych universe with ’Whale on a Horse’. From here on out the band keeps shifting between these elements in an elegant fashion before taking it all down to earth and/or fl oating into space with the quiet and slowly gliding ’Slower’.

After blasting their way up from out of nowhere, Porto Geese had to cancel all plans when the pandemic struck us all in 2020. Only a week earlier they masterly impressed at the by:Larm festival in Oslo, plans for extensive touring was on the table, and their debut EP had started getting pretty decent feedback. Lucky for us the driving forces of the band, Joar Renolen and Bendik Øvrelid, spent the pandemic in their studio – cooking up their debut album. Porto Geese is here to stay, cementing their place on the alternative rock scene with a modern classic.
Enjoy your ‘Duck’ – out today October 15th via Sheep Chase Records.

“Infusing shoegaze melodies with the fire and darkness of goth rock, Oslo’s Porto Geese create an infernal racket.” -Bandcamp Daily
“The doomy riffs sound like the fog horn from The Lighthouse, the intoxicated vocals like a smoke infused Kim Gordon, the drums like early Swans – everything mixed together down the same alley as Spiritualized. (…) this is good stuff.” -Natt & Dag
“Noise rock might have been infested with formulas and blue copies during the last decade. But when you succeed like Porto Geese; nothing is better to cleanse your head with.”-Morgenbladet
