Nottingham emotive pop punks HIGH TIDES have debuted a new music video for their song “Bridges”, coming from their sophomore mini-album “I’m Not Giving Up, I’m Just Starting Over”, slated for a March 17th release via Scylla Records! The track ignites the fire within you due to catchy lines and powerful performance, whose optimism is counterbalanced with some nostalgic feel. Just like the very core of the pop punk genre, these guys seem to be built on a multiplicity of identities that allows us to love them, but not necessarily appreciate the generic parts of their offering and whether or not you’d like to argue about these guys, theirnew track is worth a check!
Nottingham quintet HIGH TIDES, describe themselves as ‘putting emo into pop punk since 2015’. The forthcoming release is self-described as covering themes including “heartbreak, learning from mistakes and realising that things do get better; sometimes you just have to make a fresh start for that to happen.”
HIGH TIDES have for the most part, been in eachother’s lives for years and some even from school age:
“We’ve all been in bands previously both together and separately, but this final line up just clicked instantly both musically and socially”.
Within the busy sphere pop punk, HIGH TIDES say that what sets them apart from their contempories is both their music and their live show:
“We feel our sound brings some fresh elements to the UK Pop punk sound, being a bit deeper and more mature than other bands on the scene, tending to stray from the typical ‘In sound’ currently being shared. Live it’s always crazy energetic and we put absolutely everything into it, we don’t feel we’ve done a good enough job unless we come off stage looking like we’ve had a bath in sweat.”
Lyrics:
I look beside me and the girl I used to knows not there
Nothing but a vacant stare
I can tell from the way your looking at me
There’s nothing left for me anymore
You can’t play Russian roulette and expect not to get shot
You live your life like this and you’ll die the next dayI’ll never fuck up again
Unless you try to be my friend
Not scared of burning bridges it’s walking on them that scares me
There are scars on my heart that you can’t see there’s a place in my life that you should be
Everything is fucked up because of me
And now I’m trying my best to forgetWe can make the same mistakes
We can take the same lessons
And never learn anything
I’m just dying to belong somewhere
My best guess is it’s not with you
Ive had a lot to think about now
Cause absence makes the heart go and wonderI’ll never fuck up again
Unless you try to be my friend
Not scared of burning bridges it’s walking on them that scares me
There are scars on my heart that you can’t see there’s a place in my life that you should be
Everything is fucked up because of me
And now I’m trying my best to forget
