“Nuestro enemigo” is the first proper full length offering from Madrid based ALTAIR, a musically expansive quintent that brings together sounds of cinematic post rock and emotionally charged post hardcore / screamo. The elegant and well-balanced mixture impresses and the sum effect is truly captivating. If you enjoyed the striking amalgam of Spanish language and the blend of post rock / screamo in the vein of VIVA BELGRADO, this beautful release is something you should immediately dive into.
Recorded at Ultramarinos Costa Brava (Daïtro, Viva Belgrado, Descubriendo a Mr. Mime) by Borja Pérez and mixed by Santi García, and then mastered by Jay Maas (Defeater) at Getaway Studios, the record came out digitally on November 17th, and the band is preparing a vinyl co-release with Zilpzalp Records, Dingleberry Records., Pundonor Records, and Tirano Intergaláctico.
“Nuestro Enemigo” means “Our Enemy” in Spanish. The lyrics of the album talk about the last years in the life of Jorge (our singer) and the relationship between him and his home and family. The absence of love within a violent environment and the acceptance of an unhappy situation are the causes of every story told in the album.
The painting in the video was made by Jorge’s mom at that time. With it we’ve tried to symbolize how those problems were manifested in other aspects of his life as he and his sister stayed looking at it without the ability to understand or act. At the end of the video, the kid gets to run away and starts singing.
