MILE END, a hardcore band from Brampton, Ontario, has teamed up with fellow local artist DEAR–GOD for their new single “No Excuse,” which is out now via New Morality Zine.
Following the release of their earlier single “Bind” this year, “No Excuse” leans into the hard-hitting, riff-heavy sound that the band has become known for. With a focus on repetitive rhythms, MILE END aims to create a track that gets people moving and shouting along, drawing inspiration from bands like FOUNDATION and GUNS UP!.
What sets this track apart is DEAR-GOD’s contribution, bringing a more dynamic and bouncy delivery that contrasts with vocalist Jake Thompson’s rougher, raw style.
Thompson explains that the song is about Brampton and the Flowercity hardcore scene, which the band and their friends have been building since they were young. He also highlights DEAR-GOD’s involvement, saying, “Got our homie from Brampton DEAR–GOD on the track, also a member of LICE, been a day one that helped MILE END to get off the ground and figure out how to work as a band.”
MILE END, consisting of Jake Thompson on vocals, Alex Orenczuk on guitar, Patrick Linardic on drums, and Brandon “Spider” Follett on bass, just wrapped up a short tour with SPACED.
