2 mins read

Formed in 2017, from Porto, with their unique and dense sound, VERBIAN mixes instrumental rock with the spaciality of synthesizers and the influence of various types of music. The Portuguese band launched “JAEZ” in August 2019, the self-released debut album that exceeded
fan’s expectations. They performed on national soil, at some festivals, underground clubs and during the globlal pandemic, livestreams.

VERBIAN’s latest release “Irrupção” via Antigony Records came out on September 2021, the quasi-instrumental power trio played a number of shows in Portugal and Spain, and they’re now about to announce a small summer tour in Portugal, Spain and France. See the full list of dates below.

For fans of: Russian Circles, Pelican, Bossk, And So I Watch You From Afar, Mastodon, Kerretta.

Verbian is a quasi-instrumental trio born in the city of Porto, Portugal. They are characterized by their unique and layered progressive sound, imbued with the influence of various musical languages including prog-rock, post-metal and even some doom, doing this in a very fresh and original way, not worrying about genre.

Throughout their repertoire they alternate between a myriad of sonic landscapes, resorting to heavy and epic ‘riffage’ to bang your head to, electronics, samples and synthesizers, to lift you up from the ground, but also catchy rhythms and danceable grooves and melodies. Their live shows are a very unique, immersing and uplifting experience making use of video projections with the aim create a simbiotic relationship with their music.

They debuted with the full lenght album ‘Jaez’ in 2019, which exceeded expectations. A huge leap was made by the band, in terms of sound and production, to put out their second album ‘Irrupção’, which is going to be released by the italian label Antigony Records. The album is going to be out on the fall of 2021. HNMentertainment is now responsible for booking shows for the band. Be on the lookout.

Verbian are: Alexandre Silva – bass, synths, vocals, Filipe Romariz – drums, samples, vocals, Vasco Reis – guitar, synths, vocals

Press:

““Mãe” is a delicate yet intense song that shows the incredible songwriting skills of the Portuguese group.” – Music & Riots
“[…]In short, Verbian synthesizes many influences in the same box, drawing a multitude of colors and sensations. Fans of groups like Toundra or Russian Circles can come and watch their own eruption without fear.” – Eklektik

“This album is characterized by rippling guitar lines that lead to atmospheric soundscapes. It is driving, gloomy and exciting at the same time. With headphones, this second Verbian album comes in extra hard. Technical, but always with feeling.” – CounterCulture

“[…]Framing a sound body that wanders through the muscular and reverberant post-hardcore, the band’s strongpoint lies in the progression, the build-ups and the out-of-the-box variations that make any moment, unmissable.” – Wavmagazine

“We find a multilayered progressive sound on the album that is permeated by the influence of different musical languages such as prog rock, post metal and even a bit of doom, and this in a very fresh and original way.” – Stone Prog

“[…]However, it was one of those concerts in which the live experience is even better than that of the studio, without detracting from it at all.[…]” – Rouco Son
