Post-hardcore supergroup L.S. Dunes, made up of some of the most recognizable names in the genre, are back with their second full-length album Violet, set to drop on January 31, 2025, via Fantasy Records.
The band, formed in 2022, features Anthony Green (Circa Survive, Saosin), Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), Travis Stever (Coheed & Cambria), along with Thursday’s rhythm section, Tim Payne on bass and Tucker Rule on drums. Their debut album, Past Lives, made waves in the post-hardcore scene, blending elements of the early/mid-2000s sound that their members helped define.
The new album includes the already released single Fatal Deluxe, and the latest single Machines.

According to bassist Tim Payne, “Violet encapsulates everything we’ve been trying to accomplish since we formed as a band. It gives each of us, as individual musicians, a safe space to explore music in ways that we have not yet had the chance to.” He adds that the band has grown more familiar with each other’s artistic styles, allowing them to push their creative boundaries further, all while focusing on making the songs themselves the priority. This approach has resulted in a cohesive yet distinct sound that stays true to their roots while also expanding into new territory.
Violet continues where Past Lives left off but takes things a step further. The new tracks still carry that unmistakable post-hardcore grit but feel more refined and focused. There’s an evolution in the songwriting, with the band’s creative limits being pushed in fresh directions. While Past Lives captured the raw energy of a newly-formed group, Violet reflects a band that’s now more comfortable in its own skin.

The release comes at a busy time for L.S. Dunes. They’re playing the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas this weekend before heading out on tour with Rise Against. This tour includes notable stops like the Brooklyn Paramount on October 22, as well as dates in Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Boston, among others. They’ll also be hitting the road again in 2025 as part of Coheed and Cambria’s S.S. Neverender cruise.
L.S. Dunes are determined not to rest on the reputation of their past projects. Instead, they are carving out a new identity. Their music still speaks to the fans who came up in the early 2000s post-hardcore scene, but it also pushes forward, offering something fresh without abandoning their roots.
Violet is shaping up to be more than just a follow-up—it’s a statement from a band that’s sticking around for the long haul, refusing to be boxed into any one sound or genre. For fans of their first record and those who’ve caught them live, this album promises to be a continuation of that raw, energetic spirit, but with a more cohesive and mature execution.
