Post-rock act ATIVIN makes a triumphant return with “Austere”

1 min read

After an almost two-decade-long hiatus, post-rock ensemble Ativin is making a triumphant return with “Austere“, marking the band’s most cinematic and expansive venture to date. This latest work is the group’s inaugural release under the combined banners of Fonoradar and Joyful Noise Recordings.

In an unexpected departure from their established aggressive and explosive style, Ativin presents “Austere” with a more restrained approach. The guitar duo of Daniel Burton, known for his contribution to Early Day Miners, and Chris Carothers, from Hunting People and Grizzly Daughter, have welcomed Chris Brokaw of Codeine and Come fame, to contribute drums to this more pared-down and skeletal soundscape.

Austere” ultimately materializes as an evocative work of beauty, certain to elicit a spectrum of emotions from those who immerse themselves in its sonorous depth. This album serves as a testament to Ativin’s enduring ability to evolve and innovate, even after their extended silence.

A veritable feast for fans of Slint, Tortoise, Low, Codeine, Early Day Miners, New Year.

The album will be released only in vinyl format and in a single color version – oxblood red.
