Cambridge, Ontario’s melodic punk veterans, Frank Dux, are set to release their first full-length album titled Product of Our Youth on August 22nd through Pink Lemonade Records, Thousand Island Records, and Tarantula Tapes.

This album marks a milestone in the band’s journey, which began over two decades ago when the four members first crossed paths in the local punk scene. Fast forward to 2015, and they reunited, driven by the same passion for fast, melodic punk rock that originally brought them together.

Product of Our Youth consists of ten tracks that tackle themes of love, loss, and change, staying true to the band’s motto of “just play it fast and loud.”

Produced and mixed by Pat Dietrich, the album captures the raw energy and emotion that has defined Frank Dux’s sound.

The band has provided a detailed commentary on each track of the album, offering insight into the inspiration and meaning behind the songs.

Forever Home – It’s hard to be vague about content of a song when it ends with the lyrics “I guess I just miss my dog.” This song was originally an acoustic track that was written by Joel about losing his dog Gwen. We decided to give it a full band arrangement and if you look hard enough on the album art – you might even find her!

Zack Verkerke Your Beer Stinks! – Social media, and influencers can be a blessing and a curse. For a blessing: the lead riff in this song was inspired by some IG guitar influencer. For a curse: …well, you’ve been on social media right?

One… probably closer to two: POV: You’re about 40 years old, and you still play in a punk band. You’ve probably got some other people in your life who hold down the fort while you go out and live out your childhood dreams. This one goes out to them.

Thoughts and Prayers Will Not Save You: Losing someone you care about sucks, and thoughts and prayers, at least for us, don’t really do much. Be there for the friends, family and people you care about. Extend a hand rather than a platitude.

Triples is best… Always: Losing someone you care about sucks… wait, have we already said that? It’s almost like there is an ongoing theme about it on this record. This one deals with the idea of sudden loss, and then coming to terms with it.

Do the Crime…: They say blood is thicker than water, but sometimes that blood gets watered down… then what? Joel wrote this song while reading a biography of the Kids in the Hall, a legendary Canadian comedy troupe… oddly there aren’t any jokes in this song.

Do the Time!!!: This song is a response to the previous song and Joel had finished this book by the time he wrote it. Maybe they could’ve been one song? But then we are getting back into Prog rock track times… and that just can’t happen.

Lost: This is another quick one that was written and demoed using mouth guitars on a voice memo after a dinner date. Funny enough, it’s a song about dealing with change, and there were some points we struggled with changes during our production phase of the song. Isn’t it ironic, doncha think?

Small Math: One of two songs on this album that came from riffs that Shawn cooked up. Scott had the idea to make it an instrumental track, and it turned out to work pretty well leading into the final song of the album. Wait… is this Scott leading us back into prog rock?! For 50 seconds I thought there was monsters on the world: We already had a song on a previous album titled “60 seconds…” so I guess we are counting our way down to zero. This was the second song based on riffs that Shawn had written, and also features the only “guitar solo” on the album. If you keep listening all the way to the end, you’ll basically restart the album.
