Rage! was created in November 2011 in the south of England. The idea was initially to run a zine, short after the first 2 zines came out we got involved with releasing music on tapes thus becoming a label. Most recently we are putting a show in Southampton UK and plan to do many more (2nd July – ABOLITION, FOR VALLANCE, FORSAKEN, FERAL YOUTH, YOUR MOVE + 1 TBC).

We do this to put our own stance on hardcore, add our own thoughts & opinions, discuss our own views and let others share their own opinions, give extra opportunities for people to get the music we believe in out to the public.
It’s a firm believe of ours that what we put out needs to have a deep meaning & message, otherwise it’s just noise, therefore with our releases everything we put our efforts into has a message or meaning that we personally agree with and believe in too. Due to money circumstances all are releases are made extremely limited, which i guess makes them very rare (all pressings so have been from 15-30, wand will remain around those figure for the foreseeable future)
Zine Details
So far we have released 4 zines: Rage! #1 & #2, Hardcore Help (a benefit zine for the HHF), & Mind Control…Life Control (a zine we made with the band feral youth to accompany our tape release with them). Rage! #3 will be out in July, to coincide with the show we are putting on previously announced, along with this an essay/zine called Smoke Trails will be put out giving views / perspectives on how hardcore and hardcore thoughts can help to improve / change every day life (individually & for society)
Both of the first regular Rage! zines had 75 copies made, all of which sold out in under a month. The other two both had 30 copies each, and sold out in quick succession also.
Our zines aren’t edited the greatest in the slightest (due to time restraints being a student), but we do offer lots of opinions, interpretations, thoughts and so on which is what we aim to achieve above anything else.
The aim of our zines is to cover traditional interviews with bands, but we try to skip away from asking questions that don’t breach the surface. We try to go deeper than the music, seeking to understand lyrics and messages behind music.We also contain tons of pages relating on hardcore & world topics away from the music. Other pages from our zines so far have focused on other aspects of hardcore such as: festival reviews, the cost of money in the world, documentation of hardcore, the lack of space and freedom in civilization, straight edge, show / hardcore project updates, scene reports & evaluations, lyric discussion, football, moshing, people hiding behind the web, the hhf & more
Our last zine had a mosh card, vital for any pit.
