A name behind which hides Thibault Chaumont is a French sound engineer with more than 15 years of live and studio experience, working with rock and metal as well as pop and synthwave artists. More than just a solo project, his new outlet RAINH is a playground free from any ban. Thibault exploits his synths, manipulates sounds with brio, and integrates the voice of his persona between spirit and machine. An electronic music evolving in a tenebrous universe, which doesn’t hesitate to insinuate itself towards indus, metal or trap. Ranking not far from Health, Nine Inch Nails and Lorn, his debut EP Ethēr Lumīnīfēr, released in 2020, can be discovered below.
A couple of weeks back, Rainh unveiled a new single, “Random By Design“, a track that, although in the continuity of its predecessors, leans towards more modern metal inspired sounds. Massive riffs and an airy drum machine accompany this synthetic melody with fervour, suggesting a striking heaviness.
“Random By Design” comes along with a beautiful music video, representing the paradox of a human creation caught between divine and technological. The video is directed by Dehn Sora, french multi-disciplinary artist known for his work with Amenra, Carpenter Brut or Ulcerate, and whose 3D images always impress!

“I wanted to confront the organic part of it, with the design process. This frontier is not so clear anymore.” – says Thibault.
“In a way, the nature can calculate, as an engineer can create and bring life to something. I like the idea that we could be just sentient machines. When I saw Dehn’s previous works, it seemed obvious that it would be a perfect match.”
Director Dehn Sora adds: “Starting a collaboration with an aesthetic challenge. Rainh came to me with a common high influence, named Testuo by Shinya Tsukamoto. he had an original idea that spoke to me : working around 3d printing to get an organic feel : making that being true, touchable, would have been a step forward. Unfortunately, tries weren’t convincing enough, so we moved back to a digital, to get the proper feel we wanted. Love his approach on keeping things organic, twisting reality to get the vision done. Hope we will go on that territory together in the future.”
