SCUBA COP embraces distinguished noise rock sounds in dark new singles from intriguing new record

1 min read

Ely Morgan is based out of San Diego, CA and hailing from Colorado– a longtime musician now focusing on his noise rock project, SCUBA COP. With previous bands (GSL’s Die Princess Die, Manta Ray, Goth Jock), Morgan has released multiple albums, been showcased at SXSW twice, and toured throughout the US and Europe. Outside of performing music, he has always played a central role in the local music scenes he’s been a part of, with video footage used in two different documentaries about Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna, taking part in two different published music books, and booking bands that included Elliott Smith and Fred Armisen. Now, Morgan presents his solo project, Scuba Cop, for those who like dark and heavy music like Pixies, Unwound, Jesus and Mary Chain, Pissed Jeans, Metz, Das Oath, Slayer, Nine Inch Nails, Nomeansno, Sex Pistols, and Jesus Lizard. Today, we’re giving you his new track “Seasons”, the third forerunner of the record, revealing almost evilish, sinister sounding chorus and ending electronic background pattern that could be easily mistaken for Usher’s pop hit single Love in This Club. Wait, what? Listen below :)

“Seasons is about harsh, cold and gnarly winters. Where your car would be iced over and spin out of control.” – comments Ely Morgan.

“Transplanting from Colorado to California, the winter experience has gone from reality to memory.”

Scuba Cop was recorded by Ely Morgan and mastered by Pete Lyman (Grammy winning mastering engineer who has worked with Chris Stapleton, Tanya Tucker, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile, Sturgill Simpson, John Prine, Weezer, Panic! At the Disco, and more.) This debut album will be released digitally November 13th via CUT LIPS RECORDINGS. Preorder here.
