After a thunderous four-decade reign in the metal world, Brazilian/American heavy hitters Sepultura have declared their upcoming 40th-anniversary tour to be their final global curtain call.

The tour, intriguingly named “Celebrating Life Through Death,” will kick off in March 2024 and span a massive 18 months, showcasing the band’s legacy one last time on stages around the world.

The tour, which has been in the pipeline for two years, will start on their home turf in Brazil, with dates soon to follow in Latin America and the United States. Fans can anticipate additional dates to be announced, as Sepultura aims to bid a comprehensive farewell to their global audience.

Sepultura’s statement encapsulates the essence of this monumental tour: “Four decades of ups and downs have allowed us to be Brazil’s messenger to the world. With our latest album ‘Quadra’ and the ‘SepulQuarta’ experience during the pandemic, we feel ready for one final, strong farewell, and we want you all to be a part of it.”

In a unique move, the band plans to record 40 live tracks in 40 different cities during the tour, culminating in a massive compilation album. This endeavor is intended to capture the band’s most energetic and memorable stage moments, serving as a lasting tribute to their dedicated fan base, known affectionately as SepulNation.

Sepultura’s journey is marked by remarkable achievements, including spreading Brazilian metal across the globe and cultivating lasting friendships. As they prepare to exit the music scene, they do so with a profound sense of fulfillment and gratitude towards their fans, who have been their pillar of strength and support.

The tour’s supporting acts include Jinjer, Obituary, and Jesus Piece, adding to the excitement of this farewell event. Sepultura’s decision to end their journey is reminiscent of euthanasia – a dignified and conscious choice to conclude their epic saga.

While the Cavalera brothers, Max and Igor, who exited the band years ago, have yet to comment on this announcement, their legacy within Sepultura remains undeniable. Their departure has not hindered the band’s continued influence in the metal world.
