Shoegazin’ post metallers CHROME WAVES streaming new single & video “Wind Blown”

August 26, 2021
1 min read

As Midwestern post rock tinged metal outfit CHROME WAVES prepares to release their third LP, The Rain Will Cleanse, through Transcending Records and Disorder Recordings in early September, the band has issued an official video for the record’s new single, “Wind Blown.” The video makes its public debut through an exclusive premiere hosted by New Noise Magazine.

CHROME WAVES’ current four-piece lineup is embodied by founder Jeff Wilson (Deeper Graves, ex-Nachtmystium), James Benson (Amiensus, Comatose), Dustin Boltjes (Demiricous, ex-Skeletonwitch), and Zion Meagher (Anti-Human Thesis, ex-Nachtmystium). With six new songs further exploring the band’s blend of shoegaze/art rock-inspired post-black metal, The Rain Will Cleanse is the band’s boldest and most vibrant recording to date.

The video for “Wind Blown” was directed by David Jaggar. CHROME WAVES guitarist/vocalist James Benson writes, “I approached this song a bit like I was trying to write a love song in 1985. Of course, my mind was on the late, great George Michael while writing about lost love during the process. It was quite simple to write with that in mind.”

The Rain Will Cleanse was recorded at Disorder Recordings by Jeff Wilson and at Postal Recording by Tyler Watkins who also handled mixing and mastering. The record was completed with cover artwork by Rebecca Dunski and photos by Luke Steffens and features guest vocals from Darja Vaarsi on several tracks.

The Rain Will Cleanse will see release on September 10th, with Transcending Records handling the CD and LP formats and Disorder Recordings handling the cassette and digital. Find preorders including merch bundles HERE and see the “Sometimes” video below.

Watch for details on CHROME WAVES’ upcoming mead, custom reverb pedal, and more to post over the weeks ahead.
