LA based punk rockers DEATH LENS have recently released their new single and video “DAEMON”, which will appear on their highly anticipated upcoming album No Luck, set for release on April 15th on Secret Friends Music Group.
This latest single follows “Abrupt”, which received massive airplay on SiriusXM Faction Punk and official playlists on Apple Music and Amazon. “DAEMON” has already been added to the “New Punk” official playlist on Spotify within hours of its release. The bands music will be featured on an episode of MTV’s Ridiculousness as well as mtvU later this month.
“DAEMON” is Death Lens doing what they do best – pummeling audiences with fuzzed out SoCal style punk that encapsulates a hardcore attitude, skate culture and social awareness. The latest single hits hard with caustic riffs and catchy melodies that are as easy to mosh to as they are to sing along with. While the song blazes along at a breakneck pace, the precise playing from the band prevents it from going off the rails. The group emphasizes a well curated personal style as well as their working class, multi-cultural roots and showcase this with lyrics that speak to the hardships of life with an undercurrent of positivity and resilience.
The official music video adds a compelling (and clever) visual narrative to the track, you can view it above.
Singer Bryan Torres has this to say about the themes of the new single and video: “The video shows what goes on in our heads as we casually practice ‘DAEMON‘. The people watching don’t exist, they are figments of our imaginations. They each represent a life struggle, along with world struggles, that we have to manage and deal with everyday. The last man standing at the end, raising his fist up high, is the little voice that is working overtime to keep us all optimistic even in the darkest of times.”
Recorded and mixed by Jonny Bell at Jazzcats Studios in Long Beach, CA from April – July 2021, the bands upcoming album No Luck (April 15th, 2022) will be their first release on Secret Friends Music Group. Through 13 tracks of straightforward punk rock, the band touches on themes of social and political awareness, mental health and personal relationships with a realistic but positive message to fans. Merch and vinyl pre-orders are available here.
The band will perform at the Treefort Festival in Boise, ID on March 26th and 27th. They will also be supporting Together Pangea for a five day run starting March 28th. Full show itinerary is below.
