SPEED drops new single and video “DON’T NEED”

2 mins read

Flatspot Records is bringing the heat with Australian hardcore band SPEED dropping their new single and video “DON’T NEED.” Get ready for their debut full-length, ONLY ONE MODE, dropping July 12th on Flatspot Records (USA) and Last Ride Records (AUS).

SPEED is coming at you hard and fast. After tearing through a sold-out North American tour with KNOCKED LOOSE, they’re storming through Europe before heading back to the States. They’ve already blessed us with two bangers, “REAL LIFE LOVE” and “THE FIRST TEST,” racking up 250k views. Now they’re back with “DON’T NEED,” a track that’s all about staying true to themselves and hardcore.

The band says: “We’ve been hitting hardcore shows and playing in bands for most of our lives. You get to know who you are, what you stand for, and why you’re in it. Now, we’ve got a lot of outsiders checking us out. We don’t need anyone telling us how to handle that. We’re hardcore kids in a hardcore band from Sydney, Australia.”

“DON’T NEED” packs groove-driven riffs, influenced by bands like TRAPPED UNDER ICE, with vocals that hit hard and stick with you. The video, shot by Jack Rudder, Thomas Elliott, and SPEED, captures the wild energy of their live shows, blending performance with crowd action.

Formed in 2019, SPEED’s lineup of brothers Jem Siow (vocals) and Aaron Siow (bass), guitarists Josh Clayton and Dennis Vichidvongsa, and drummer Kane Vardon, never chased fame. They’ve always done things their way, sticking with the same crew from the start – producer Elliott Gallart and videographer Jack Rudder. Their 2021 single “We See U” blew up, hitting a million streams, a huge feat for a Sydney hardcore band. The 2022 EP Gang Called Speed solidified their place in the scene, leading to tours across North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
