Stepping into a dreamy forest with FIN DEL MUNDO’s “El Día de las Flores”

2 mins read

As the Argentine quartet FIN DEL MUNDO inches closer to the release of their new album Hicimos Crecer un Bosque, the final preview arrives in the form of “El Día de las Flores,” a track that not only captivates with its dreamy instrumental layers but also features the collaboration of Guillermo Mármol, the renowned vocalist of ETERNA INOCENCIA.

Released via Spinda Records, this song paints a picture of yearning, emotional reflection, and the deep bond between two people who may no longer share the same connection.

“El Día de las Flores” marks the third and final single ahead of Hicimos Crecer un Bosque, following “Vivimos Lejos” and “Una Temporada en el Invierno.” The track opens with delicate guitars that echo the essence of post-rock, carried by a precise and steady bassline. The rhythmic flow, paired with Lucía Masnatta’s melancholic lyrics, gives the song a midwest emo undertone, but its expansive atmosphere is pure dream pop, a signature that FIN DEL MUNDO has mastered.

The collaboration with Guillermo Mármol of ETERNA INOCENCIA elevates the emotional weight of the song. Mármol’s vocals blend seamlessly with the rest of the track, adding a nostalgic punk rock touch to an already heart-wrenching composition. The lyrics, full of deep metaphors and aching sentiments, explore the fragility of memories and relationships, as the protagonist reminisces about lost mornings and the peaceful garden they once nurtured.

FIN DEL MUNDO’s upcoming album, Hicimos Crecer un Bosque (set to release on October 18, 2024), promises to be a lush, emotional landscape, where the balance between indie rock, post-rock, shoegaze, and Midwest emo is carefully maintained across its eight tracks. The album was recorded in Buenos Aires at Estudios Unísono and later mixed by Nicolás Aimo at Estudio Albatros, with final mastering done by Sr. Warrior. The album artwork, created by Francisco Picone, is a visually poetic reflection of the album’s thematic depth.

Tracks like “Cuando Todo Termine,” “Refugio,” and “Devenir Paisaje” offer a haunting journey through soundscapes that merge the human experience with natural imagery. The previously released singles, “Una Temporada en el Invierno” and “Vivimos Lejos,” have already set the stage for this emotionally charged release, making it clear that Hicimos Crecer un Bosque will be a defining moment for the band.

FIN DEL MUNDO has been steadily gaining attention worldwide, especially after their performances on KEXP and Sesiones Bravas. Their journey, which has seen them tour across Europe and Latin America, continues to gather momentum. It’s no surprise, then, that their previous album, Todo Va Hacia el Mar, was highlighted by Enrique Bunbury as one of his favorite albums of the year.

Their new record arrives as part of Spinda Records’ “Noisy Series,” which includes works by bands like ADELAIDA and LAS NUBES, further cementing their place within a global community of post-rock and dream pop innovators. Hicimos Crecer un Bosque will be available on digital platforms, CD, cassette, and a special edition vinyl, which comes in three limited colors: lavender, red marble, and classic black.

If you’re eager to witness FIN DEL MUNDO live, here are some of their upcoming performances:
