Stoner rockers from DAS RAD release debut album

1 min read

Das Rad are a psych trio from Toronto made up of Allyn Norris, Dean Dallas Bentley and Ireek Sofakia. Drawing influence from 70s proto-metal acts like Black Sabbath and Hawkwind, Krautrock heroes Can, and shoegaze acts like My Bloody Valentine, the group combine walls of heavy distortion with a detached and ethereal aesthetic that has made them one of the most sought after live acts in Toronto’s thriving music scene.

Having released split EPs with Toronto sludge punks HSY in 2012, and Hamilton deathrockers WTCHS in 2013, Das Rad are preparing to release their debut full length, Radiation on Pleasence Records in October of 2014.

Radiator, the LPs first single foregrounds Norris’ dreamlike vocals, and Sofakia’s heavy guitarwork, building from the first moment into a thundering crescendo of noise over its four minute run time. There simply aren’t many bands who can do this sound this well.
