SURE explores the ‘Bottomless Pit of Desire’ in new single “Deeper”

2 mins read

Three years ago, we delved into the melancholic depths of French trio SURE with their acclaimed EP Nineteen Years, where they masterfully combined post-punk energy with dark electronics and cold wave melancholy. Today, SURE returns with the premiere of their new music video for “Deeper,” a track that pushes their sound into darker, more industrial realms.

Channeling DEPECHE MODE’s timeless hooks, NINE INCH NAILS’ experimental edge, and HEALTH’s modern production, SURE continues to transform post-modern disarray into visceral melodies, irresistible dance-floor beats, and a fearlessly versatile voice.

Deeper” lures us into a dangerous industrial sensuality—savagely seductive and haunting. The track builds upon a hypnotic Middle Eastern strings motif that erupts into a vicious party.

Their forthcoming album, Destruction of Form, is set to be released on March 14th via Frozen Records, promising to further dismantle and reconstruct the boundaries of their genre.

“‘Deeper’ is a bottomless pit of desire, one that’s not always worth diving into. It’s a hard look at our image consumption and our constant need for more. This consumption comes with the promise of uncompromised hedonism, and until we feel satisfied, it can get out of control.” – comments the band.

“The video tries to illustrate that borderline dangerous hunger, which only stops when you reach the bottom of the pool. We tried expressing these obsessive patterns with sensations and connotations and kept it aesthetically minimal, not to fall into the dull reality of those fantasies.”

The lyrics ofDeeper” echo this introspective journey:

I’m watching
I’m watching
Eating up more than I can grasp
I’m searching
I’m searching
For the hit that will send me high

Be careful what you wish for
You’re gonna see things that you won’t unsee
Be careful what you wish for
You’re going deeper, deeper
Than what’s meant to be

Deeper” captures the perilous allure of unchecked desire and the consequences of delving beyond safe limits. SURE’s evolution is evident as they weave these themes with a sound that’s both familiar and refreshingly innovative.

Destruction of Form arrives on March 14th via Frozen Records.
