SVEMIR’s “l|l”: an instrumental journey into atmospheric post-pock

1 min read

Hailing from Rome, Italy, Svemir, an instrumental post-rock project, continues to evolve and enthrall with its unique, ethereal soundscape. Crafted by a single artisanal hand, Svemir bridges the divide between the echo-laden reveries of post-rock and the intensity of post-hardcore, imbued with an emotive undercurrent characteristic of emo.

The creative brainchild of a members of Suaire and Jet Market, Svemir stands on the pillars of a DIY ethos. He has previously joined forces with Matteo Gobessi, a member of the renowned hardcore scene staple, Thousand Oaks, in the conception of Svemir’s past work. Since the project’s inception in 2020, Svemir has independently released two records, the self-titled debut EP “Svemir” and “Vagabond” in 2021, which boasted the potent single “Jelen”. Now, the upcoming EP “l|l” promises to be another remarkable milestone in Svemir’s musical journey, set to release on June 23rd, 2023, with three new entrancing tracks.

The EP unfolds with the opening track, “Backwoods“.

Svemir says: “As the opening track of the EP album, ‘Backwoods‘ sets the stage with its captivating atmospheric, dramatic, and cinematic mood. The composition has been developed using multiple guitars, creating a rich and immersive sonic landscape.”

Emphasizing the emotional depths of the track, Svemir adds, “Delicate, clean guitar arpeggios, adorned with ethereal delays and reverb, gently draw the listener in before increasing intensity as the song progresses building an emotional connection and inviting the listener to get lost.”

Mist,” the second offering from the EP, heralds a more intense, driven tone, marked by distorted guitars, dynamic drums, and a compelling, pulsating bassline. Svemir’s creator describes the track as a roller-coaster ride that ensures that “the audience remains fully engaged throughout.”

The final song of the EP, “Time Trap“, is described by Svemir as “probably the most complex and diverse song, different genres and influences can be found in it.” Opening with a solo guitar adorned with a mesmerizing tremolo effect, the track creates a sense of immersion and paves the way for exploration across various sonic territories.

Reflecting on the new EP, Svemir concludes, “Each track of the EP stands on its own, I tried to offer a unique sonic experience while still maintaining a remarkable level of consistency throughout the whole record.” Clearly, “l|l” will not just be an EP; it’s a journey, a sonic story told through the language of music, and a testament to Svemir’s continual evolution.
