Iconic Oxford rockers Swervedriver are set to release their first collection of new material in over five years with the EP The World’s Fair. The EP, set for release on March 7, 2025, via Outer Battery Records, is now available for pre-order in vinyl and digital formats.
Leading the release is the single “Volume Control,” streaming now at Brooklyn Vegan and on the band’s Bandcamp page.
This marks a return to the EP format for the band, a rarity since their early days with Creation Records. “We haven’t really done an EP since our days with Creation,” explains guitarist and vocalist Adam Franklin. “It was a cool way to present your music with no commitment to direction. You could just go off on one on any song if you wanted, and that’s what we wanted to do again here.”
The EP features contributions from longtime collaborators and guest musicians, including Will Foster, Calina de la Mare, and Sarah Willson. Recorded by the band with assistance from TJ Doherty, Ride’s Mark Gardener, and Rick Beato, the release highlights the band’s signature blend of epic rock textures and psychedelic overtones.
“Volume Control,” the first track released from the EP, showcases Swervedriver at their most dynamic. With driving guitars and lush layers, it serves as a bold reminder of the band’s distinctive sound. Described as a “dizzying sonic assault” by press materials, the track embodies the energy and creativity that have defined their career.
The announcement of The World’s Fair follows a string of activity from the band, including the reissue of their celebrated 99th Dream album and last year’s release of Doremi Faso Latido, an essential package of outtakes and demos.
Fans can pre-order The World’s Fair now through Outer Battery Records and stream “Volume Control” on multiple platforms, including Bandcamp and Brooklyn Vegan.
