Computer Students is a record label founded in 2018 by five creators and friends based in different parts of the world. It focuses on experimental sound, archival practice and the physical side of recorded media, and packs its vinyl in aluminium: the matte-finished Type-1 packaging was engineered before the label launched, and a lighter Type-2 followed in 2022. Its Anatomical Reissues apply the idea of dissection to existing albums, adding codex guides and unreleased tracks or data, and its Expanded Reissues add bonus recordings, notes and unseen artwork.
Boston math-rock band Lynx saw their 2000 CD debut reissued on vinyl for the first time in the Expanded Reissues series, with a second record of three unreleased songs inside aluminium packaging. HEY!TONAL’s 2009 album became the second Anatomical Reissue, remastered onto double white vinyl in a gatefold with a poster, all in metallic packaging. Chicago noise-rock band Big’n released “End Comes Too Soon”, their first full-length in 28 years, through the label. New Brutalism followed with “Requiescat Record”, an EP of three songs Steve Albini recorded in 2021, and Chevreuil turned a planned reissue into “Stadium”, their first album in 20 years.
