Toronto alternative rockers from THE FOLK have launched a full stream of their debut album called “We All Say”! This band is definitely one to keep on your radar. Scroll down to check out the entire outing and a couple of live dates booked for the upcoming days.
This band churns out a personalized concoction of alternative rock n’ roll goodness, with powerful and chill-inducing melodies. Each member is as much as a music fan as they are a music maker, and at times it’s easy to pick up on their decade-spanning collection of influences. There’s 70’s-rock like Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick, 90’s/early 2000’s alt-rock like Smashing Pumpkins, The Hold Steady, and Sloan, and current heavy-hitters like Toronto’s Zeus. The Folk’s music is like a fusion of your parents favourite vinyl records and your cool downtown cousin’s CD collection. / BlogTo
The Folk is an eye-opening up-and-coming rock band from Ontario, Canada whose sound is subtly edgy, yet eclectic and free-flowing. The group’s lead single, “In Silence”, is a track driven by the shredding of electric guitar riffs and a brisk pace set by a cascade of percussions. Lead singing duties are divvied up between the band’s frontwoman Sara Bortolon-Vettor (Sara BV) and Mark Ferrari, who also plays piano. BV’s fraternal twin sister Emma plays lead with her electrifying guitar, while Liam Magahay and Patrick Rody play the bass and drums respectively. / SummerInTheWinter
The band commented:
“We are best friends, roommates and two of us are fraternal twins. People tend to notice – one consistent observation is how our friendships shine through our live performances.”
THE FOLK are: Sara BV on lead and group vocals, electric guitar, piano and synthesizer; Emma BV on electric and acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizer, group vocals and whispers; Mark Ferrari on lead and group vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, synthesizer and conversation collage; Liam Magahay on group vocals and bass; Patrick Rody on drums, tambourine and shaker.
