Talks about THE OFFSPRING being inducted into next year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are apparently underway.
Although not affiliated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the website Future Rock Legends says that The Offspring are being eligible for induction into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 and will be present at the 2014 Induction Ceremony. The website states:
The Offspring have made a good living by writing about teenage angst in suburban Southern California for the last couple of decades. Critical acclaim has been hard to come by, so it’s doubtful they’ll have much more than an outside shot at future induction.

If the event were to happen, The Offspring would be the fourth “punk” band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, following The Ramones, The Clash and The Sex Pistols, who were inducted in 2002, 2003 and 2006 respectively.
It’d be fuckin’ sweet if this was to happen.
if the offspring gets in the rock and roll hall of fame, nofx should be in it. they’re as big as the offspring or at least they were close to.
Dude, I don’t think NOFX will do that. Why? Because, even though their Punk in Drublic album went gold, they never sold as many records as The Offspring or other bands like Green Day, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Nirvana. They had a lot of music videos and at least one or two radio hits, but they still never had the same height of popularity as The Offspring, Rancid, Bad Religion and Green Day. Yes, I love NOFX, but I doubt they’ll ever be inducted into the R&R HoF.

I just thought I wanted to let you guys know that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not about record sales or how popular a band is. It’s about influence or innovation, apparently just something different than popularity or record sales.
