“The Wind To Wash The Pain” – COILGUNS unveil their darkest chapter yet

1 min read

Today, COILGUNS releases their haunting new single and video, “The Wind To Wash The Pain“, revealing a side of the Swiss band few have seen before. Known for their relentless noise-rock energy, COILGUNS takes a step into the unknown with this introspective track from their upcoming album Odd Love, due out on November 22 via Humus Records.

“The Wind To Wash The Pain” is a deeply personal exploration of recurring emotional wounds and the helplessness that accompanies them. The song envelops listeners in a brooding mix of harmonium, timpani, and restrained vocals before erupting into the band’s signature chaotic climax. Louis Jucker, COILGUNS’ frontman, speaks to the raw emotion behind the track:

“When you’re feeling down again, and that pain feels like an old one, something you’ve felt already, almost familiar, too normal to be dangerous, yet too real to be ignored… the only thing you’ve left to do is wait for the wind to wash it all away. Until it comes back again.”

This haunting reflection on the cyclical nature of pain forms the core of “The Wind To Wash The Pain.” The lyrics reflect a sense of defeat in the face of emotional exhaustion, a theme that resonates throughout the upcoming album. In the single, COILGUNS pulls the listener into a world of melancholy, where relief seems both inevitable and unattainable.

The single was produced by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Thrice) at Norway’s legendary Ocean Sound Recordings, where bands like Arcade Fire and Cult of Luna have also crafted their works.

Grammy-nominated Tom Dalgety (The Pixies, Royal Blood) mixed the track, ensuring COILGUNS‘ distinct sound remains sharp, while Robin Schmidt (Liam Gallagher, The Gaslight Anthem) handled mastering. Together, they helped COILGUNS bring this dark, introspective vision to life with stunning sonic clarity.

“The Wind To Wash The Pain” serves not only as a bold statement of where the band is now, but also as a hint at what fans can expect from Odd Love—a more nuanced, vulnerable approach that still maintains COILGUNS’ raw, explosive core.
