TRAPPED UNDER ICE release new track “No Relief”!

1 min read

TRAPPED UNDER ICE have unveiled another new track from their upcoming record “Heatwave” (Pop Wig Records), a follow up to their last record Big Kiss Goodnight. The new track is dubbed โ€œNo Reliefโ€ and it’s a solid shot of energy, delivered with a proper style. Check it out below and scroll down to see the band’s upcoming dates, including a trio od European gigs and a bunch of US shows.

The track continues to highlight the band’s “no rules”, groove-centric approach to hardcore, looking to inspire just as many shaking hips as banging heads, with Stereogum calling it, “an absolute cathartic blast with some truly great riffs.

10 years after their first release, Trapped Under Ice brings you Heatwave. This phat LP is short, fast and hardcore; the way Straight Ahead intended, but played more like Fury of Five and Breakdown at a backyard party. For punks whoโ€™ve considered throwing a spin kick in jean shorts. Rhythmically, Heatwave is like a trailer park Sepultura. Check it out if you fuck with what TUI has been doing for the last decade. The same, but different.

When Trapped Under Iceย went on hiatus in 2013 their impact was felt, whether directly throughย the new bands formed byย TUI-alums themselves (most notably Turnstile and Angel Du$t), or indirectly in theย sonic influenceย takenย by manyย young up-and-coming HC bands, manyย of which have now released music through Pop Wig Records, the label founded by several Trapped Under Iceย members. Now everything has come full circle as Trapped Under Iceย return with Heatwave, continuing to hold their never-vacated mantle as one of hardcore’s most forward-thinking bands.

Trapped Under Ice have always colored outside the lines, oftenย treating hardcore’s conventions as loose guidelines to be shifted and warped into something driven just as much by hooks as by breakdowns. On 2011’s modern classic, Big Kiss Goodnight,ย Trapped Under Ice began to lean into their catchier sensibilities,ย and nowย Heatwaveย findsย the band fully embracing thatย side of themselves and writing their most concise and infectious work to-date. The album’s tight fourteen minute run time leaves no room for filler, just eleven leanย tracks of aggressively groovy, hook-filled hardcore, at once exuberantย and kineticย but undeniably aggressive and raw.

TRAPPED UNDER ICE announced a run of United States East Coast tour dates with support from Fury and Freedom, as well as run of shows in Texas with Gag, Firewalker, and The Real Cost.ย ย See full itinerary below.
