“Yom-Ma-Lok” – one of hardcore’s heaviest releases of the year by WHISPERS is here!

1 min read

December just got heavier with WHISPERS’ Yom-Ma-Lok EP dropping today on Flatspot Records.

Hailing from Thailand and proudly dubbing their style “Bangkok Evilcore,” WHISPERS unleash a colossal, modern metallic hardcore sound across these seven vicious tracks.

They hit Sixthirty Recording Studio in Bangkok with Suchai at the controls, then handed the tracks off to Andy Nelson at BrickTop Recording and Brad Boatright at Audiosiege for mixing and mastering.

Riffs inspired by heavyweights like ALL OUT WAR and MERAUDER detonate throughout, delivering a merciless beatdown. Lyrically, Yom-Ma-Lok digs into the grit of human nature and brutal reality with a global perspective.

Yom-Ma-Lok kicks off with an instrumental, “Bangkok Evilcore,” setting the tone before smashing into “A Choice To Survive.” The track’s venomous delivery meshes with self-reliant lyrics drawn from Buddhist proverbs.

SPEED’s Jem Siow steps in at the 2:50 mark for a bone-crushing guest spot during the breakdown. Lead single “Retribution” proves WHISPERS can craft a pit-ready nightmare, while still showing off razor-sharp guitar work.

The guest spots keep coming: Shaun Alexander of DEMONSTRATION OF POWER and Stephen Bessac of KICKBACK lend their vocal brutality to “Wisenheimer” and the title track “Yom-Ma-Lok” respectively.

Finishing on the EP’s namesake track—translating roughly to “world of death people” or “underworld”—WHISPERS plunge listeners straight into the inferno, leaving a scorched aftertaste.
