HANGMAN joins the likes of Mizery, Manipulate, Higher Power, Backtrack, and more on the Flatspot Records roster, as the label confirms the A Vile Decree 7″ for November 3rd release. The record will be available in runs of 350 copies on black vinyl and 150 on clear, and all digital platforms.
Influenced by the likes of Terror, Neglect, Vision Of Disorder, Backtrack, Biohazard, and Madball, HANGMAN delivered their first demo in 2014, and their Hangman II EP in 2015, which helped the fledgling act begin to infiltrate the Long Island and NYHC scenes. Through supporting the likes of Silent Majority, Agnostic Front, Backtrack, Burn, Maximum Penalty, Stigmata, Billy Club Sandwich, Negative Approach, Ramallah, Knocked Loose, Higher Power, and others, and tours with Impact and Queensway, HANGMAN has honed their sound to a much more damaging new level in 2017, which sees the band bringing out their hardest material to date on A Vile Decree.
Five furious tunes are delivered on A Vile Decree, with upbeat circle-pit energy interjected with slamming grooves and vicious breakdowns. HANGMAN captured the tracks in late spring 2017, the EP recorded and mixed at Silver Bullet Studio in Connecticut with Greg Thomas (Misery Signals, Shai Hulud, Recycled Earth) and mastered by Bill Henderson at Azimuth Mastering. Additionally, vocalist Brian Zoid of legendary Long Island hardcore brutes Neglect supplies guest vocals to the song “Abandoned.”
No Echo is now streaming the EP’s opening track “Pesticide” alongside a brief interrogation of the band, the band offering in part, “The song is about the mindset of ignorance and stupidity owned by a majority of people in the world today. The basic idea of the song is that this mindset and attitude is seen as vermin that stalls progress in this world and instead of being a little bitch and complaining about the problems I see, I take it upon myself to use my brain and actually fucking change it.”
