Instrumental doom virtuosi ORGAN premiere an emotionally stirring LP “Eterno”!

July 2, 2018
1 min read

Instrumental records have often this expressive quality that allows us to travel tovery unique destinations that many would not dare to go.  While the music is without lyrics, some offerings have this special ability to feel as if there is some overlying concept to their creation, as if some greater themes and concepts lied at their heart. That’s exactly the case of our today’s special guests from Italy, epic post metallic doom experimentalists called ORGAN, and their new 3-track masterpiece “Eterno“, we’re thrilled to premiere below.

Recorded and mixed at Lignum Lab Recording studio in December 2017 by Marcello Batelli, and mastered at Lignum Lab Recording studio in January 2018 by Giulio Ragno Favero, “Eterno” will be officially out on July the 5th. Fo fans of: Swans, Neurosis, Yob, Old Man Gloom, Year Of No Light, Amenra, Sumac, etc.

Eterno comes out after three years from our previous album, Tetro, and we moved on a slightly different direction this time. We felt we had to focus on something heavier, darker, more serious. I think that’s also the reason why the album is totally instrumental, we wanted to have a minor reference to specific genres, than using a screamed/growl or a “stoner rock” kind of fo vocals.

Eterno has been mostly composed after Luca (guitar) moved to London, so he couldn’t have been a constant presence during the album writing process. This condition led us to create something more compact to fill this void, a music that could have been played with one guitar only, without emptying the whole sound. The guitar and bass are wider now, the drums are slower, the atmosphere is gloomier.

As the album cover may suggest, we have been looking for a kind of sound that suggested a cathedral-like ambience, full of reverbs and resonances. Under this point of view, some of the most influential listenings that contributed to the shape of the riffs and their sound, have been contemporary composers such as Arvo Part and Alfred Schnittke. The album will be available on CD and digital on July the 5th through our bandcamp/bigcartel pages, and on itunes/spotify.
