American Violence EP By Oregon metallic hardcore band FOES streaming in full

1 min read

New Noise Magazine is now hosting an exclusive stream of American Violence, the new 10″ EP from Oregon-based metallic hardcore outfit FOES. The record is streaming in advance of its official release tomorrow through Glacier Recordings.

The band offers,

“American Violence is an exercise in futility. A proverbial bashing of one’s own head against a brick wall. A wall that represents every obstacle to happiness and fulfillment. This wall is you, it’s America, it’s meaningless traditional values, and it’s the churches of man.

This album was created with the intent to make the listener feel constricted, frustrated, and suffocated under the weight of it.

A reflection of the actual feeling of being crushed by the constant pressure to adhere to a path that you didn’t choose and one’s own self-doubt about their place in a society that no longer cares.

In terms of process, ‘American Violence’ was about a two year endeavor filled with grief, loss, love, hate, death, birth, addiction, strength, and weakness. All of the tracks on the album were demo’d time and time again over the course of writing, each time revealing more and more of the final pieces. We purchased our own equipment and built up our jam space to complete the record how we wanted it, on our terms. This was a complete DIY effort up until the mixing and mastering process, which was handled by Derek Leisey and Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.”

Glacier Recordings will release American Violence on 10″ vinyl and digital formats this Friday, April 17th. Fans of Nails, Baptists, Turmoil, Gaza, and Jesus Piece tune in.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FOES has been forced to cancel their West Coast US tour dates which were booked in conjunction with the record’s release. New dates will be booked in the months ahead.

American Violence was recorded and produced by FOES’ Sonny Daniels and Garrett Judkins at their own Doom Room Studios in Sunriver, Oregon. The material was sent to Audiosiege (From Ashes Rise, Integrity, Black Breath) where it was edited and mixed by Derek Leisy and mastered by Brad Boatright. The cover art was created by Judkins and Daniels with editing and digital design by Taylor Bates at New Melody Art Design. The video for “American Violence” was created by Daydream Collective.
