MOGWAI share new single “God Gets You Back”

2 mins read

MOGWAI has just dropped their new single “God Gets You Back,” after teasing it for the last few days. The track, which slowly unfurls its layers over nearly three minutes, might initially seem like it’s holding back, sticking to a repetitive, almost hypnotic pattern. But just when you think you’ve got it figured out, the dynamics shift, and suddenly, MOGWAI is back in full force, echoing the intensity that propelled them to the top.

“God Gets You Back” was graciously premiered by Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC 6 Music today. You can watch the excellent new video, directed by Hand Held Cine Club, in full at mogwai.scot and above. The single is now available to stream or download on all major platforms.

The band’s last few years have been a mix of soundtrack work, like their haunting score for the Apple TV+ series “Black Bird” in 2022, and the release of their critically acclaimed album “As the Love Continues,” which hit No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart in 2021.

Mogwai will embark on a world tour starting next year, with live dates in Europe, Asia and North America (+ more tba).
