TOUCHÉ AMORÉ heading back to Europe for an extensive tour in early 2025

3 mins read

California post-hardcore veterans TOUCHÉ AMORÉ are heading back to the UK and Europe for an extensive tour in early 2025 to celebrate the release of their highly anticipated new album, Spiral in a Straight Line, set to drop on October 11, 2024, via Rise Records.

The band’s sixth studio album comes after four tumultuous years since the release of Lament (2020), which coincided with the global pandemic that disrupted touring and live performances.

Vocalist Jeremy Bolm reflects on the challenges they’ve faced as a collective: “The last four years were full of ups and downs for every one of us, and coming together to make this record gave us a sense of stability during a very chaotic time.”

The 2025 tour, which kicks off on January 21st in Lisbon, promises to showcase the band’s latest evolution while also tapping into their deep, heartfelt discography. Expect performances of new songs, alongside classics from Stage Four, Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me, and Is Survived By.

Bolm and his bandmates—Clayton Stevens (guitar), Nick Steinhardt (guitar), Tyler Kirby (bass), and Elliot Babin (drums)—have channeled the grief and uncertainty of the past few years into a deeply introspective record.

According to Bolm, the new album delves into themes of loss, but not in the traditional sense. This time, it’s more about losing someone important in life as paths diverge, rather than the grief that comes with death.

Kirby expands on the album’s recurring themes: “Loss and identity are intertwined in this album. We all get comfortable with certain things in life, but when they inevitably change or disappear, who are we underneath?”

Spiral in a Straight Line shows TOUCHÉ AMORÉ embracing more dynamic and experimental sounds. Their post-hardcore roots are still evident, but the album introduces acoustic layers and shifts in tempo that challenge their usual raw aggression.

Songs like “Altitude” and “Finalist” highlight this expansion, with “Altitude” undergoing multiple revisions and transformations before its final form.

One of the most exciting aspects of Spiral in a Straight Line is the guest features, including collaborations with Julien Baker and Lou Barlow (SEBADOH, DINOSAUR JR).

Barlow’s contribution to the track “Subversion” is a standout moment for the band. As Bolm recalls, he was initially hesitant to reach out to Barlow, but after sending a heartfelt email, the legendary musician agreed to lend his voice to the song. The result is a powerful fusion of post-rock and indie, with Barlow’s vocals adding a haunting resonance to Bolm’s emotional delivery.

Julien Baker, a longtime friend and collaborator, returns for her third guest appearance with TOUCHÉ AMORÉ, contributing vocals on the album’s closing track, “Goodbye For Now.”
