In the depths of Argentina’s doom and drone metal scene, Monovoth emerges with “We Burn in the Scars of Mars,” bridging past explorations with future horizons ahead of a 2025 full-length release. We covered this project back in 2022, and today it’s our pleasure to give you its newest single exclusively – listen below!
“Emotionally, it’s about connecting with people who need help and healing, and the experience of ‘burning’ within them,” Monovoth explains. “Though it can be exhausting or demanding, it’s a pain/pleasure process that can help lift someone out of a negative space. That’s the inspiration behind the name and the song.”
As an instrumental one-man project, Monovoth was born from uncharted influences that couldn’t be explored in other endeavors like MΩSTRO, Golden Cannibal, and Blvgth. “With Monovoth, I was able to tap into a more sentimental, doom, and ambient sound,” he reflects.
This venture led to collaborations with Trepanation Recordings in the UK, releasing the well-received albums “Monovoth” (2022) and “Pleroma Mortem Est” (2024).
The new single marks a dynamic shift, emphasizing intricate drum arrangements and keyboards to convey deeper emotions. “It’s a bit more dynamic than the previous material, aiming to explore new textures,” he notes. The artwork by digital artist Fivetimesno encapsulates the music’s essence in an abstract yet fitting manner, coincidentally echoing the aesthetic of his 2021 single “Laesura” and bringing a sense of full-circle to his journey.
While the upcoming album is still in its demo stage, needing final touches and guest contributions, it’s already signaling a departure from previous works. Influenced by bands like Krallice and YOB, Monovoth hints, “It’s likely to catch people by surprise.”
Earlier this year, the EP “Elogio a la Noche” showcased an experimental collaboration with local singer-songwriter Ber Stinco.
“We aimed to blend our styles more freely, incorporating spoken word, singing, and ambient music, resulting in something both eerie and beautiful,” he describes.

Currently, there are no plans for live shows. “I find real comfort in composing,” Monovoth admits. He acknowledges Argentina’s robust extreme metal scene with bands like Avernal, Medivm, Undermine, and Hueso leading the charge, while noting the challenges faced by avant-garde and experimental artists in the local landscape.
“We Burn in the Scars of Mars” premieres exclusively here, offering a glimpse into Monovoth’s evolving sound—a fusion of heavy atmospheres and themes of healing and connection, poised to resonate deeply within the dreamy, dark and gloomy metal community.
Guitar, bass, keyboard, and synthesizer were performed by Lucas Wyssbrod. Drums were composed, performed, and recorded by Martín Visconti at Ochava Records. Production, mixing, and mastering were handled by Sebastián Barrionuevo at FinDuMonde Studios.
