Fort Collins duo GLEEMER has released their sixth album, End of the Nail, through Other People Records. Corey Coffman (vocals, guitar) and Charlie O’Neil (guitar, bass, drums) took full creative control of the record, producing, recording, mixing, and mastering it at Coffman’s studio. This self-contained approach yields eleven tracks that merge shoegaze, alternative rock, and indie melodies into a thoughtful exploration of permanence, creativity, and the darker instincts tied to legacy.
Coffman explains the album’s thematic core: “The album is about the ways we try to create permanence for ourselves and how those efforts affect us. It’s hard to tell whether the material we drive ourselves into will be good or bad for us in the end, but we’re all pursuing a legacy of some kind. It’s about trying to let that go, while also exploring the darker side of that instinct, and the ways it can unravel.”
GLEEMER’s evolving creative process shaped End of the Nail. Writing across different environments and leaning into improvisation, the duo let the songs grow organically. “We tried to hold the songs loosely, and let them develop into whatever made sense for each track in the moment,” says Coffman.
Accompanying the release, the music video for “First Dream” captures the melancholy of the album. The song transitions from acoustic simplicity to a lush, layered crescendo, underscored by Coffman’s introspective lyrics.
