Silverstein has unveiled their latest single, “Don’t Let Me Get Too Low,” alongside a music video set against the stark desert backdrop of Las Vegas.
As the band heads into its 25th year, this release marks the first taste of Antibloom, the upcoming album slated for release on February 21, 2025, via UNFD. The record is part of a two-album project, with its counterpart Pink Moon to follow later in the year.
Frontman Shane Told describes the track as a seamless blend of Silverstein’s foundational sound with pop-punk and hardcore influences. “It’s a song that is hard to describe because it does so much in under three minutes,” Told shares, adding an anecdote about the video shoot: “We were in the middle of the desert outside Las Vegas, and I was digging my own grave with a big smile on my face. Luckily no cops showed up to ask us what we were doing—that might have been hard to explain.”
Guitarist Paul Marc Rousseau reflects on the song’s creative process, emphasizing its conciseness and intention: “You have to make sure every second serves a purpose, and I think we accomplished that here. Zero wasted seconds. 100% banger.” He also notes the paradoxical intensity of refining just a few moments of music over hours, likening it to a mix of importance and absurdity.
The video complements the song’s lyrical themes, which explore the tension between self-destruction and self-reliance. Told describes the lyrics as a question: “Sometimes the only person that can save you from yourself is… yourself?” The visual narrative playfully challenges this idea, presenting a darker yet humorous twist.
“Don’t Let Me Get Too Low” serves as the lead track for Antibloom, the first installment of a double album crafted in the stark expanses of Joshua Tree, California. The recording sessions, overseen by producer Sam Guaiana (known for his work with Neck Deep and Holding Absence), saw the band narrow 25 demos to a focused selection of 16 tracks, split across the two albums. Drummer Paul Koehler proposed this format to give listeners room to connect deeply with each collection. The band describes the albums as their most comprehensive work, stating they encompass “everything we’ve learned, felt, and experienced.”
Silverstein will take their new music on the road next year, with a European tour kicking off in March alongside Thursday, The Callous Daoboys, and Bloom. Tour stops include major cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin, culminating in a performance at Cologne’s Palladium on March 15.
