HIRS Collective unleash “Avian Azure”, massive new storm from the upcoming Cult & Culture compilation

1 min read

We’re so stoked to give you “Avian Azure,” the contribution from HIRS Collective to the upcoming “Cult & Culture – A Planet B Podcast Compilation LP,” out November 21 via Three One G. The track appears alongside selections from The Locust, ADULT., The Exploited, Year Future, and more — a snapshot of the podcast’s world of radical voices, sharp humor, and uncompromising sound.

Cult & Culture” began as a short tour segment created by Justin b(Three One G Records, The Locust, Deaf Club, Planet B) and later evolved into a full-length podcast co-hosted with Luke Henshaw (Planet B, Sonido de la Frontera). “The focus is not intended to be in any one realm,” the hosts said. “Because guests are friends and family, the conversations are frank, informal, well-informed, and genuine.”

Cult and Culture

The compilation translates that spirit into sound, drawing from artists who’ve passed through the show — musicians, producers, and outliers linked by shared independence. Tracks like The Locust’s “Cattle Mutilation” (John Peel Session), ADULT.’s “No Tears,” Sonido de la Frontera’s “Cumbia de la Frontera,” and HIRS Collective’s “Avian Azure” mark the bridge between the podcast’s dialogue and its music.

There’s also a limited Planet B 7” that includes a cover of Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel’s “White Lines (Don’t Do It)” with Johnny Whitney (The Blood Brothers) and “Rocket Surgery” featuring Oak Jackson. The release comes in collaboration with Smashed Plastic and will be available on vinyl and Bandcamp.

“Cult & Culture” stays true to what it’s always been — a place for real conversations and ideas that keep moving forward.
