Sydney’s bassist and vocalist Anto Boros reached out to Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die, Many Eyes) cold. “Worst he can say is no,” he figured. Buckley wrote back with “send me the song” — which Anto found “maybe worse than no.” What came of it is “Things Could Be Better” featuring Buckley — out April 30th, and the first piece of Sydney’s upcoming LP “Attachments.”
The reach-out came at the end of 2025, after the post-hardcore band had spent close to a decade trying and failing to line up time to make new music. Day jobs and families kept getting in the way. The plan now is a slow drip — finish a song or two every couple of months until about half of “Attachments” is done, then complete the rest before the full LP comes out.
Melodic guitars and sparse piano segments push against heavier chaotic moments throughout the song. Lyrically it sits in the gap between wanting change and not knowing how to get there — “those moments where you can see a different path, but can’t quite reach it,” as the band describe it. They say they tried to mirror that tension in the dynamics, moving between restraint and intensity.

Anto on the full Buckley story: “We (SYDNEY) finally decided to put out some new music. We’d been attempting for almost a decade, but life was busy and we could never all get the timing right. When it finally started coming together again towards the end of 2025, I remember thinking ‘I’ve met some really cool people in my time with music, I wonder if the guys would be interested in a collaboration’.”

“Keith Buckley was immediately in my head as we all love his work as a lyricist and vocalist. Everyone was on board, so I just decided what the hell, I’ll reach out and see what he says. Worst he can say is no. He hit me back with ‘send me the song’ which was very nerve wracking and maybe worse than no. Keith eventually got back and was excited about the song which was a big confidence boost for us. So we sent him everything and he recorded his vocals remotely in Buffalo.”

“Once the master was finished and sent to him he seemed genuinely excited with how it came out and was super complimentary on the song. Especially towards Kyle, our drummer. It was really awesome to work with him and he was so cool about asking if he should redo anything or change anything up. We had a lot of fun with this track.”
