Hailing from Columbus, OH, REVERSE THE CURSE are a 4 piece indie-rock band consisting of Ed Starcher on Vocals/Guitar, Joey Regets on Drums, Max Wesoloski on Bass, and Jack Musil handling the second guitar. The record was recorded over the past 2 years by Eric Cronstein and Adam Korbesmeyer at the Tone Shoppe (The Sidekicks, Annabel, Worship This!), and was then mastered by Chris Keffer of Magnetic North Studios.
With having previously released the Paths EP in 2009, and Hither & Yon in 2011, Reverse The Curse are back at it with a brilliant follow up. Existent embodies everything the band has touched on with their earlier releases and shows growth and development in their song writing and overall production. Singer Ed Starcher has a very unique vocal style, similar to that of Tom Waits, and will often cut through the track giving the vibe of this record one that is not often found in this genre. Stand out tracks “Carer,” “Broken Key,” and “The Hum Heard” all take deep influences from more current bands like Mewithoutyou and Manchester Orchestra. The band also takes notes from older indie bands like …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of the Dead, and Screaming Trees, using their bleak approach at writing catchy indie songs. At times this record will get dark, and they will experiment with slow build-ups similar to what Brand New has done with their later discography.
This past year the band has hit the road pretty heavily completing US tours with Ed Houchuli and Signals Midwest, including appearances at Fest 12 in 2013, and shows alongside Rival Schools, The Menzingers, and Daylight. Reverse The Curse will continue to hit the road in January for a 3-week tour in the Southeast. Dates to be announced shortly.
The vinyl version of Existent is currently available for pre-order via Escapist Records. The release is available on three different color-ways: Black w/ Random Color Splash (50), Transparent Teal (150), and Black (300). A December 9threlease date is tentatively set for the vinyl version; the album is currently available for purchase digitally through all major digital outlets, including a low $5 price for the next week at the Escapist Records Bandcamp page.
