Billy Howerdel, the co-founding guitarist of alt rock icons A PERFECT CIRCLE, has announced his debut solo album called “What Normal Was”, to be relesased on June 10 via Alchemy Recordings, Rise Records, BMG.
The 10-tracker comes 14 years after Billy’s first solo offering ASHES DIVIDE and its album “Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright” in 2008.
His new single “Poison Flowers” comes alongside a video directed by Rizz of LA-based death pop duo VOWWS. Watch above.
“This is me stepping back into my early teen self and making the record I would’ve made if I had the means and the knowledge when I first picked up a guitar — just in 2022,” – comments Howerdel.
“It’s that moment as a kid when you hear a record, close your eyes, and go somewhere else. That was the time I found my lane, so to speak.”
Howerdel will take the new release on tour around North America this June and July.

“If you’re a huge fan of A Perfect Circle, you’re gonna love it hands down. Has shades of A Perfect Circle in there but also a lot of his early influences really coming through like The Cure, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen. Solid!” – Daniel P. Carter (BBC Radio 1)
