Looking from beautifully vital experimental funky tunes? THE HOLY GASP is a damn-the-Man beatnik revival conga revolution, a boxcar and a jug of wine, a groove, daddy, and the farthest thing from a king sized bust! These fellas’ debut album “The Last Generation of Love” is the second release on Arachnidiscs’ newly resurrected NO LOVE imprint which trades in more accessible indie weirdness than its parent label. Creative, experimental, and very imaginative, THE HOLY GASP’s new record is a fun listen. Be sure to check it out.
The band commented:
The album will be released as a limited edition cassette run available on Arachnidiscs.
The songs included on the album were selected purely for their lyrical content. There were other songs that might have been included – we do perform them live – but I left them out. They speak to different matters. What I wanted most was to put out an album of protest. My background is in poetry, and in many ways I set out to write a book of performance poems. Or, at least that’s how I tried to make sense of things.
Recording credit goes to Josh Korody (The Dirty Nil, Dilly Dally, Beliefs) – the album was recorded sporadically between March and November of 2014 at Candle Recording in Toronto.
