New Jersey is known for a lot of things – the shore, Bruce Springsteen, whatever taylor ham is – and has been home to hardcore infused with rap for quite sometime. Taking influence from predecessors like E Town Concrete and Fury of Five, Bayway bring their gritty and aggressive sound to the genre on their upcoming EP, The Newport Sessions, set for release April 20th on DAZE and RTF Records.
Completely produced, mixed and mastered by the band in vocalist Jay’s studio, the EP features a classic skit intro leading into three in-your-face tracks. Today the band shares “Cease II Exist,” packed with groove, an impressively speedy vocal delivery, and a beatdown ready breakdown.
Speaking on the personal lyrical content of the song, Jay states: “I have always felt like an underdog. Whether I was sleeping on the floor as a kid, living in my car as a teen or struggling to get by in my 20’s I have just always been an underdog. I don’t think I was supposed to make it. The struggles and obstacles that were put in front of me from day one were enough to break most people. So to me this song is about life experience and how hard it can be and how hard it can make you. So if shit goes south when you running your mouth, my advice is you better know what you talking bout.”
The Newport Sessions is available for pre-order on cassette tape and digitally on Bandcamp.
Bayway will play a release show on April 21st in Asbury Park, NJ at House of Independents supporting Fury Of Five and Sworn Enemy.
